Lexham Bible Dictionary no longer opens on my Kindle

Hi all, this my first time post here.

Since a recent logos upgrade to my android and my Kindle the already downloaded Lexham Bible Dictionary stopped opening, showing: an unknown error occured. Since then, there was an upgrade to the android Bible app that fixed the problem there but no change for about a week now on the Kindle, my preferred Bible reading platform. The synced LBD was a great help.

What I've already tried:

Uninstalled and re-installed the app, and I also did it after cleaning the app's cache and data

And I also did the same after removing the LBD. Then I re-installed the Bible app and re-downloaded the LBD.

Still no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you,

Bud

Welcome! Sorry you are having troubles. [:s]

I am not an android user, but there is a forum dedicated to those using the android mobile app. This thread will be moved there so that you can get the help you need.

Hi Bud, please answer these so I can better help you:

    - What exact model of Kindle are you using?
    - What version of Android is it running?
    - What version of the Logos app are you running?

Hi Kevin, it is a :

    KIndle Fire HD 7"

    Current version 7.5.1 5174320

    Logos Bible app version: 4.5.0

As to what they are calling the OS, I don't know. I haven't found out yet, but I know that it is a 2nd generation and a 2012 model.

    I know that it is a 2nd generation and a 2012 model.

Unfortunately this device is no longer supported as it runs an Android 4.0.3 equivalent (which is why the Logos app version on your device is stuck at 4.5.0).  The current version of the Logos app is 4.6.5 and requires a minimum Android version of 4.1.

When Faithlife introduces new capabilities the resources are recompiled to take advantage of them, but the downside is this can make those resources no longer work on older versions of our software.

Thanks so much Kevin for getting this issue figured out,

I've been on the phone all day with Kindle and then with the Amazon Appstore support teams with the result as of now they are opening a ticket with Faithlife developers. I suppose I just might be of the dwindling few 2nd gen Kindle users about to have to upgrade.

    God bless you all,

    Bud

Well, unfortunately there's nothing Faithlife can do on this one.  We can't go back and support older operating systems.  Similar to Windows 95 and iOS 6, we have to draw the line at some point and drop support.

    Good luck!
