Cloud-based Logos? A More User-friendly Hiding Books Option? (Lack of Hard Drive Space...)
I have a Early-2014 Macbook Air (128 GB SSD). I do not keep photos, music and videos on my laptop (Spotify for music, Google Drive for photo, Amazon Cloud for videos, Box.com for everything else). My entire HD is dedicated for Logos books. I use my laptop at coffee shop for sermon prep and ministry-related work.
But I am becoming frustrated the growing size of Logos Software. It simply costs too much money just to maintain these digital books (e.g. I will have to upgrade my 2014 MBA to keep up with new purchases).
I refuse to get a desktop for Logos. That defeats the whole purpose of going digital. Because of this, I am planning to refund my Lexham Master Bundle to free up space. Zondervan sales and Christmas Mega Pack are also out of consideration.
Maybe I just need to drop $1,600 on a new Macbook Pro lol...But I rather spend $1,600 on digital books :P

When purchasing a tablet, phone, or laptop it's always very important to make sure you have enough space. If you're interested in spending thousands of dollars on Bible software, it's definitely worth it to spend an extra $100-200 on the device with more storage. Granted this advice won't be useful to you in your current situation...
Is an external HD or SSD a viable option?
Because "everything" is moving to the cloud some people may get the wrong impression that they don't need to spend money on devices with more storage space. But the type of stuff that is moving to the cloud (documents, photos, music) usually take up very little space anyway. What takes up most of the space on your computer, tablet, or phone is software/apps. Software and apps are not moving to the cloud and, for the most part, probably won't for a long time. If some people are upset that Logos seems slow to them now, they won't be very happy when they find out how slow it is on their internet connection and now they need to call the ISP to upgrade their internet speeds. So it's still important for people to make sure they are purchasing a phone/tablet/laptop that will have plenty of storage for the amount of apps and software that they want to install.

You have no idea what you are talking about. My photos along are 500GB - 1TB ... You can store all that on cloud. The only apps I use are Evernote, Microsoft Word, Kindle, and Scrivener. They are under 1 GB. Now days, even apps are moving toward cloud (see Chrome books).
Logos 6's System Requirement is
- 30GB Free Space - Internal HDD/SSD Only (may require additional space depending on your library)
- Internet connection (for activation, updates, and some features)
I did make sure that I have more space than needed. Except I am using more than 100 GB at the moment. Maybe that page needs to be updated.
Correct me if I am wrong...I am pretty sure Logos eats up more HD space when indexing...
p.s External HD is not recommended by Logos.

That seems excessively high...how many resources do you have? I have 4641 resources and my Logos folder is 24 GB.

Your Logos installation shouldn't be anywhere near that unless you have a very large library (say 20,000 reources). Can you check the size of your WebCache folder, in Logos?

Ok. I misspoke. It's about 45 GB. That's not big, by Logos's standard [:O]
By the way, app.logos.com seems to be very promising!

Well then you definitely are not your average PC user (are you a professional photographer?). 500GB would be about 60,000 photos (assuming the photos are average size). So the difference between 500GB and 1TB in terms of photos is quite huge. Anyway, I suppose that if you have between 60k and 100k photos then, yeah, I didn't know what I was talking about when I made my remarks to you... But the vast majority of people don't have that many photos to store in the cloud or on their PCs/laptops.

From what others have said, it sounds like your numbers are off. Hopefully, if it is a bug, you can get it taken care of.
