Android Emulator? Andy/AMIDuOS
Hey all - is anyone using an Android emulator on Windows 10? I've just sold my Android tablet (to get a windows 2 in 1 - Dell 7350), and will miss the 'plain reading' mode of the app (though ready to get all my resources and searches! yay!)
So, is anyone using an android emulator to get the android app? I'm guessing since we have heard nada about the win10 app....

Wowzer, that's expensive! For someone using it for one app anyhow...
I tried Andy (not bad - but way too slow too boot and way too many resources to leave running), and amiduos (couldn't get it working - seems their servers have a problem, their forums full of complaints). Oh well, worth the try!

Some people are reporting success with chrome browser as a platform for running the Logos android app using ARC Welder... try searching the forums here for it.

Genymotion is free for personal use and works with at least a million apps. Did you download it and try it out?

I'll give it a go when Chrome starts working again - thanks! (Chrome gets random no internet - everything else works - and i've been an IT guy for 25 years!!)

The Chrome Browser (that I'm using right now on my iMac to type this) is different than a Chrome Book that requires using something like the ARC Welder to run our Android apps.
Genymotion runs on both Windows and OS X, is free, and can run thousand of Android apps.0 -

Firefox works fine - as does edge. Just not Chrome. Did this on an old PC but reinstall fixed - I've been on chrome since early beta!

If your goal is to run Faithlife apps in an Android emulator on Windows 10, I recommended trying Genymotion. Genymotion has always (to my knowledge) had a free version.
You can use any web browser that works on your system to download it from https://www.genymotion.com/#!/download .

This looks like something to try out. However, my Windows tab is 32-bit, and this link for genymotion says it needs 64-bit. Any suggestions?

That is also my problem. My Lenovo Yoga 2 is running 32bit version of Windows, although the system says it supports 64bit.

Look at the requirements again 32bit Windows OS versions are supported but the CPU does need to be 64bit. Perhaps more problematic is the requirement of a dedicaded GPU - often such hardware though listed as a requirement is not absolutely necessary.
Genymotion system requirements for Windows platforms:
- Microsoft Windows 7, 8/8.1, 10 (32/64 bit).
- 64 bit CPU, with VT-x or AMD-V capability, enabled in BIOS settings
- Recent and dedicaded GPU
- 400 MB disk space
- 2GB RAM

i gave them all a run - I have a dell 7350, 4g ram, 64bit. For testing use they would be fine but for casual use (I want for reading - the windows full app is not so good!), it uses way too many resources - basically takes over my machine (RAM limitation). Oh well, worth a try!

My conclusion is the same. All worked but very long time to get to simple reading and also after switching to other programs on my tablet messed up whole thing. It is not the way. Universal App is the way. Or full Logos program with much better touch friendly features.

I remember a post from someone who setup an emulator and used the iOS app successfully, searched but couldn't find the post I was thinking of.

Apple doesn't allow Faithlife (or any other software vendor) to distribute iOS apps to run in emulators.

I'm running the Lollipop version of AMIDuOS on my SP3 i3. It works surprisingly well. My Surface does not have enough storage to load and index my resources, so until Faithlife releases a UWP app or lets us selectively download our library with the full app (really - not yet?), it looks like the best I can do is emulate Android. It's galling, but it works - I recommend giving it a try if you're on a tablet with small storage.
