How do I create an aesthetically pleasing icon for a multiview resource?

If I may offer a suggestion to aesthetically improve upon your shortcut icons (IMO) demonstrated in your video...

1. For my ESV with Multiview set to off I use standard ESV Icon.

2. For my ESV with Multiview on, I created a Multiview Icon using three straightlines (|||) and then check "show label" and uncheck "show image"

How do I search for "Father" but not "father"?

Click in the upper left of the Search Panel for a menu. Then check, "Match Case" and that should do it for you.

How do I make a collection of my study Bibles?

"Bible Notes" is the Logos type for study bibles as defined by Logos. Use type:"Bible Notes".

I expect you didn't add quotes. type:bible notes is not the same as type:"bible notes". The latter is what you want, and should be fine, although personally I use type:"bible notes" -subject:("O.T.", "N.T.") -series:"numerical bible" just to fine-tune it slightly.

I settled for Type:("Bible Notes", commentary) "Study Bible" since some SBs are of type bible commentary (as others explained) and the text "Study Bible" might not be in the title, but elsewhere, such as in the series, the community tags or the resource description (re series: such as my two OT volumes of The Ignatius Catholic Study Bible)

How do I update my layout?

Look for the word Layouts in the UR corner of your layout. If you click on it not only can you open a saved layout, or create a new one, you can update the current layout. The control for that is on the right in the uppermost layout thumbnail. Click on Update active to update your currently open layout.

Should you forget to do this, Logos keeps thumbnails of the layouts you've recently opened and closed. You may find the last used version of your layout in that list. Click on it to open it.

Why am I having trouble with my LXX aligning correctly in a link set?

Septuaginta: Morphologically Tagged Edition (LLS:1.0.301) is an older resource that hasn't been brought up to our modern standards. We recommend hiding it and using one of the following replacements: Septuagint with Logos Morphology (LLS:LOGOSLXX) or The Old Testament in Greek according to the Septuagint (LLS:OTGRKSWETETXT).

What is the standard for resource linking in our libraries?

The commitment from Logos is that when a resource is first built, it should include active links to all resource that exist at that time. We're told not to expect links to be added later, except in exceptional circumstances (i.e. very popular, very important resources that continue to sell well).

How do I highlight the text found by my Search on a more permanent basis?

You need to set up a Visual Filter based on your search

In the example below I have run a search for "sin" in a Bible

Clicking on the control icon (top left) gives me the option to "Save as Visual Filter"

which gives me:

I can rename the Visual Filter by clicking where it says "Untitled Visual ..." and I will call it "highlighting sin" and I can choose how I want the search term to be highlighted by clicking on the dropdown on the right

I will choose "red foreground"

Then going back to the NIV - and going to the search result - you can see that it is highlighted

The orange background is there as the original search window is still open - once you close that you are just left with the red highlight.

Can I transfer highlighting from one Bible to another?

Highlights, by definition, are notes of selection... you select the specific text (or characters!) you want to highlight... they aren't tied to a reference, lemma, or anything else. The only way for you to "transfer" highlights from one translation to another is to manually, one by one, create the new highlights.

While Bruce and Alabama are correct in terms of transferring highlights, Logos Now 6.8 (currently in RC stage) will provide the ability for a "Sympathetic Notes Visual Filter" (for original language Bibles or Bibles with Reverse Interlinears)

This enables you to see highlights from one version displayed in another.

One option available (introduced in Logos 6) is the ability to "add an attachment point" to a note or highlight (just to make clear - within Logos - a highlight is a special class of note)

In the screenshot below I have two copies of the KJV / AV open. The one on the top-left has had a highlight applied (with this highlight being stored in a Notes Document - bottom left), the one on the right does not have a highlight.

If I hover my cursor over the note title I get a dropup - clicking on that I can choose "edit attachment points"

which results in

I can now select the portion of text I want this highlight to apply to in the unhlighted version and click "Attach to current selection"

which results in 

Click "Done" and it is complete.

It does require work but it is probably the best way I know to do what you are trying to do

Do you have the same problem with Bible notes? 

As highlights are a class of notes the same principles apply. Highlights are an example of "notes by selection" which are not shared across version. "Notes by reference" are not linked to any particular version and are visible in all resources with a Bible index.

How do I find all my Bibles that contain a particular verse?

To do what you are trying to do you need to do a Milestone search (used to indicate marked sections such as verses)

 A quick alternative is to go to Amos 1.5 in a bible, right mouse click to get the context menu, select the verse and then power lookup. It will show all the bibles and commentaries with the milestone Amos 1.5.

How do I share my notes with another logos user?

Have you tried publishing or collaborating a document? Visit https://documents.logos.com then select the document. on the right side, click "actions"

How do I find all quotes from a specific book?

If you perform a Search Everything for a title it will:

• return results in the Library Resources section that verifies the title is in your library
• return results in the Library Results section that show where the title is quoted

e.g. search for  Augustine NEAR "sermon on the mount"  which looks for Augustine's "Sermon on the Mount" which is typically found in the "Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers" series of titles. You could restrict the search to "Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers" Augustine  "sermon on the mount" for better results.

Don't be too precise as the quote may not reflect the exact title of the Logos edition.

Where can I find NT Apocrypha and Psedigrapha WITH morphology?

From my own library I see only Rick Brannan's "Greek Apocryphal Gospels, Fragments and Agrapha: Texts and Transcriptions" (logos-link) , see https://www.logos.com/product/17854/greek-apocryphal-gospels-fragments-and-agrapha in the shop

Yes, these searches are of original language material. So the above is the only original language, morphologically tagged version of NT Apocryphal material at present.

Can I tag resources from the Library panel?

Open the library, click on the icon on the right that has an i, select the book or books you want to tag and then enter your tag in the box as shown below:

If you want you can use the library search box for example to locate all works by an author: (author:pink) or all commentaries (type:bible commentary) or books with the subject theology (subject:theology) You can then select all those resources and tag them.

How can I make a collection for all the books that I have last accessed in a certain period of time?

I would sort on the field, select Jan 1 - Dec 31 using SHFT to get everything between the first and last  date then use save as Collection.

How do I search the works of a particular author?

Run a basic search and in the dropdown that defaults to all resources type author:mounce.

You should get an option to search those books as shown below.

In case it's not clear from the screenshot, you have to click on the part where it says "3 resources with author:mounce". I tend to forget this, and just press 'Enter', which chooses the top resource instead.

What is the keyboard shortcut for Power Lookup?

There's no built-in keyboard shortcut, but you can create a bookmark. Open Powerl Lookup, and makes sure it's the active panel, then CTRL+SHIFT+1….9. Then CTRL+0…9 to get open it in the future.

Why do some topics appear in the Catholic Topical Index Section of the Passage Guide but not in a Search?

In addition to a simple search, the Catholic Topical Index section in the Passage Guide also uses the Related Verses in LCV to locate topics.
