Logos 6.8 (6.8.0.0049) now available

Logos 6.8 (6.8.0.0049) is available for download.
If you have automatic updates turned on, 6.8 will be downloaded automatically the next time your system checks for updates. To install it right away, enter the Update Now command. If you encounter problems with the auto update, download 6.8 using the appropriate link:
This release features:
- Logos Now: Corresponding Notes & Highlights Visual Filter - display notes and highlights in a Bible even if they were applied specifically to other Bibles
- Logos Now: Lemma in Passage Section - find commentaries and discussions of a particular lemma, or the lemmas from a section of text rather than just usages *of* the lemma
- Logos Now: Reader's Edition Interlinear - allows you to ignore most common words in an original language interlinear and read it more naturally
- All users: The Reference Range Picker in Search has been improved, making it easier to define and save custom ranges of text
- All users: Specified reference ranges and search types will be retained when doing multiple Inline Searches or Searches with "Send search here" enabled, making it more fluid to repeatedly search different terms within the same section of text
- Numerous bug and crash fixes

Thank you, guys!
This change alone will literally save me hours each week.
For example, I can now type "gosp" into the Reference Range box rather than having to scroll down the whole list to locate "Gospels" and select it with the mouse.

I realize an actual bug report would be more useful, but two finger scrolling stopped working for me for about five minutes. If it happens again I will do an actual bug report.

I had a problem installing .NET 4.6 which was entirely my own fault, I will try better to be more judicious with my comments in the future.

I feel your frustration and am sorry you got an impolite technician - that's not happened to me but even tech support people are permitted an occasional bad day. However, I suspect your anger is inappropriately focused. Many of us just set the Microsoft Windows environment to automatically update ... and don't think about it again ... for years, literally. If Logos doesn't keep up with the latest Microsoft versions and patches, some of us would be up the creek.
If the root of your problem was an obsolete version of .NET, then the questions should be:
- did you have it set to auto-update? If so, why did it fail?
- if you didn't have it set to auto-update did you miss a notice of the update?
- when Logos required the newer version, did you try to update? if so, how did it fail and why
Yes, if you use Logos, because Logos is built on Microsoft products you will be chasing updates for the rest of your life. But that is true of nearly all secondary products unless you let the old product die each time you purchase a new computer. Yes, I realize that logic doesn't help when one is frustrated but ...

I was out of line in my post. Yes, my anger was wrongly directed. To all concerned, please accept my apologies.
I am not exactly sure why my computer won't update. It is very puzzling. I tried to update manually with no actual success.
I think I let off a little steam in my last post. Yada yada, (Thankful for the editing feature in the forums [:$])
Yes, they could have built it in a way which was less prone to being dependent on faster and faster update cycles. But it wouldn't be as slick, the hot rod of Bible software (hurray!). I am glad that there is such a thing as Logos Bible software.
I should have had auto update turned off. [:)]

It's fine to vent when its clearly venting. The real question is "Did you get your .NET to update or are you still dead in the water?"

I very much appreciate the ongoing updates and improvements - especially the new additions in Logos Now. Thank you.
This was a major update that also required a NET update so this one in particular took a long time. It wasn't so bad on my primary laptop that uses a SSD but my secondary laptop only has a HDD and it took all of last evening to get it up and going. Still I appreciate all that this amazing program is able to do to enhance my theological studies.

Bruce, are you using Windows 7 or 10? I do not remember having this probem.

Thanks for your suggestions MJ. I am still dead in the water, but by God's grace I will be up and running in near future.

I cannot update to the new NET, so I am up a creek. I wish that I could go back to Logos 6 before they made the recent update. I sent an e-mail to them but haven't received a reply.

What error do you get when you try to update .NET? Have you looked the error message up on Microsoft's site?

The error does not contain a number.

Is it normal that this update seems to be taking most of my CPU and taking a long time? It is the "Logos Indexer" -- making my Macbook run hot and the fan run constantly?

Hi Elizabeth - and welcome to the forums
Is it normal that this update seems to be taking most of my CPU and taking a long time?
No
It is the "Logos Indexer" -- making my Macbook run hot and the fan run constantly?
If this persists I suggest you stop Logos, ensure diagnostic logging is enabled (https://www.logos.com/support/logos6/mac/report-problem) ,start Logos again and then post logs after a time.
I suggest you start a new thread in this forum to explain the issue and provide the logs.

Hello Kendall,
I'm sorry for the frustration you've experienced. IT sounds like you're having problems installing the update to Microsoft's .NET Framework that Logos 6.8 uses (.NET 4.6). Here is a link to the offline installer https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48137. It might be that your Windows Update needs you to install it through Windows Update or merely restart your machine. I'd check your Windows updates and restart the machine if you haven't since you've been experiencing this error.
If .NET 4.6 isn't in your Windows updates, restarting doesn't help, and the offline installer does not install, you'll want to talk to a computer technician certified by Microsoft, or a Microsoft support representative. Microsoft's technical support number is here http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/DisplayHelpContactUsPage, but if you have a computer tech you trust I would start with them.

I'll politely disagree with my friend. My answer is that "it could." It depends upon your system. Knowing more would be good. See my signature line for instructions on logging, then create a new thread.

Thank you so much Tommy!
I made the jump to Windows 10 today. And now I am overjoyed to say that all my problems are gone! I know you guys work hard, and I am also sorry for my overbearing reaction to the problems I encountered. I pray God will help me to keep a calmer and more loving disposition. I know he is working on me.
I wish you all the best,
Kendall

Thanks to all for responses. I do think it was the indexer. I followed the Activity Monitor and about an hour after I posted my question, the indexer stopped taking up so many CPU's and the computer stopped running hot and the fan stopped. All is well. This is a 2014 Macbook running El Capitan. Thanks!
