What if all Community Pricing Resources were $1.00

I wonder what would happen if all community pricing resources had the option of bidding $1, regardless of the resource.  I imagine that a lot of users would bid $1 when they wouldn't even consider $20.  I wonder if this would attract more bidders?

but for this to have an impact you'd need not only 'more' but 20 times the number of $20-bidders. Only Faithlife knows the stats about people visiting CP as opposed to people bidding.

Projects like the Patrologia Latina, with its $250 USD minimum bid, might have an even lower chance of success.

At $1, 20X more bidders doesn't seem so unlikely.

It would probably take close to forever to go into production, or Faithlife would produce them prior to covering production cost in which case we probably would soon have no Logos (as we know it).

Thanks for the replies.  I understand that it would take a lot more bids and many would cross 100% at much more than $1.00.  Having the option to bid $1.00 probably wouldn't attract enough new bidders.

My 2¢: It depends upon the resource. If so many bidders bid $1 instead of a more realistic bid, the resource might sit and never go anywhere. Furthermore, people are more likely to bid if they feel that they are going to get in on a deal.

The $1 CP resources are likely to be ones which have a relatively low production cost, and the value of which can be clearly communicated. The one on Luther's Tree, for example, is timely. It is also likely to be of interest to people outside of the potentially primary target of Lutheran users.

Although I don't think it would work I would love it if they were all only $1.

And we have lots of examples of resources getting stuck like already.

Bruce, IF they could be at only $1.00 and every Logos user would bid on the items that would make a big change to many resources..

Maybe Logos should pick a test resource most people would like and make it possible to bid for it and see what happens, kinda like a test case.

I'll add two Cents, or 100 Riels to that. Even at $30 CPs get stuck for that same reason. https://www.logos.com/product/16808/english-bible-collection

The web has given us such a race towards zero that some won't bid even at a nickel. I hope that more Logos users keep in mind that we are dealing with something of such incomparable value that makes the cost of resources pale by comparison. How blessed we truly are to have such a superb library at our fingertips.

What I am saying is that is unlikely to happen even if the resource was offered for $1 but it would be an interesting experiment for some resources as you suggest. The title of the thread suggested that it be applied to "all" resources.
