Logos 7
Is there a Logos 7 in the near future? I'm asking this because some things are not being fixed in Logos 6 / still getting the "not responding" when opening up layouts, so was wondering if these are being purposely overlooked because of something big in the makings.

Probably not, but there are several threads in the general forum if you really want to talk about it. [:)]

The builds "build" upon one another... so things not working in L6.x means that they won't work in L7.0.

It has been announced shortly after 6.0 was released that major updates would be every TWO years. For those who cannot wait, FaithLife offers Logos NOW which gives you advanced features that may find their way into 7 as well as other features that will always be more on the subscription model. NOW is always a work in progress somethings like the web app which is expected to always be a subscription feature is somewhat lacklustre is features compared to the desktop, but the goal is to have a fully online product that virtually mirrors the desktop product. Some bugs are harder to squash than others, and i would hope there are no current bugs that FL is saying leave it 7 will take care of it.. for the primary reason that 7 while it will have many bells and whistles in it will be at it;s heart the same core as 6 and 5... that is not to say great strides and differences were not made between those numbers, just that the core code is similar and shared. indeed even though 4 was basically a brand new build from the ground up it shared some code with Logos 1.0. This is the nature of software. And with software as complex as LOGOS you usually do not try to reinvent the wheel.

My point is that FL doesnt stop working on L6 to work on L7 because working on L6 IS "working on L7."

An example of 6 becoming 7 is looking at 5, one of the last betas of five introduced true 64 bit architecture. This was a key feature of the improvements of 6... In similar ways Logos Now with it's numerous beta releases of features will flesh out likely nearly all new features found in 7.0, indeed a 6 NOW user might say there is virtually nothing new in 7, but they have also been told that a discount for upgrading from 6-7 will be reduced for Logos Now subscribers. (As a totally unfair thought: Do I try my free month of Verbum Now in October 2016 to get a discount???? Not sure that would work and I honestly wouldn't expect a discount). In all fairness I would suspect one's discount would depend on length of ones subscription to Now.

This probably isn't a hint, because we see something like "Logos (X) Will Never Be 15% Off Again....Ever" with some regularity. But it does strike a spark of imagination, maybe even some hope.

it takes a lot of programming to make changes that will really move things forward. All the low hanging fruit so to speak has long ago been done. Now its going to take making curated datasets and doing extensive tagging of existing resources to move things forward. Notice "Logos Now" is mostly about curated datasets, and to a lesser degree program enhancements.
So right now I'm happy with Logos Now, and am wanting them to have a much time as possible to really cook the code, and take things forward.
FYI, version 5 & 6 are really just maturing the code that first came out in Logos 4, so I'm hoping for some larger technological advances this time around!

Logos Now is a subscription model, that helps Logos with their cash flow white they spend a large amount of cash of programming the next version of Logos. Also it helps us by getting access to new features, without waiting two years between releases.
You can read all about this on their website. But I think of Logos Now as getting some part of Logos 7 as it is getting made. NOTE: I do not consider all the features of Logos Now as being totally completed features, some need a lot more work! But, it is moving the software forward in usability. Some features in Logos Now will stay in Logos Now and not ever make it into Logos 7, Bob P. has noted this in an earlier post. But I expect most program features will be included.

Then the ad stating 6 base packages will never be at a 15% off again may be wrong...although I suppose that 14% of would be a nice sale that would make the ad be true....
