8 Highly Ranked Commentaries for $40

The "Understanding the Bible" series of commentaries is good. I would have not bought the series because I have an excellent sets of Commentaries in my library.
However, FL is giving us the opportunity to "cherry pick" this set which contains some highly raked volumes by some top scholars such as Gordon Fee, F. F. Bruce, and others. I realize that the "Best Commentaries" site is not the final word on commentaries. But if you lean to the evangelical side, their rankings are worth considering. And at least eight of the commentaries from the "Understanding the Bible" series are ranked in the top 10 on their particular book by best commentaries. Many others in the top 20.
More importantly, they are by solid scholars and are only $4.99 each on sale for a few more days.
Just saying.

I bought Deuterinomyi, Job, Kings, Philippians, 1 & 2 Timothy, and the two volumes on the Minor Prophets.
There are other great volumes in the set.

Part of the issue is always what commentaries you already have, and so which ones you need.
In addition to the ones you've got, the one's I've flagged as my preferred ones in the UBCS series include:
- Psalms (Broyles)
- Jer (Longman)
- Isaiah (Goldingay)
- Chronicles (Jonker)
Others that are among my "most used" (may reflect what I've been studying rather than how good they are) include:
- Ezekiel (Tuell)
- Exodus (Bruckner)
- Mark (Hurtado)

Ezekiel (Steven Tuell)
Daniel (William B. Nelson)
Luke (Craig A. Evans)
Revelation (Robert W. Wall)

Got them all for $99 bucks last year and at the current price cherry picking would be foolish especially if you realize that you might need another one later and then you're going to have to pay full price.

I think this sale was geared toward new Logos users. You not only need to look at the author, but what kind of commentary this is. is it Critical, pastors, or devotional commentary? I think these would fall into the pastoral or devotional type of commentary. Given I reformed portfolio, and now baptist diamond, as well as standard platinum, I figured this would not add anything significant to my library.

They tend to be briefer, however, a few were/are highly rated for insight (most seem to be too brief to be helpful to anyone, let alone those who have extensive commentary collections.): including: Achtemeier (Minor Prophets), Hurtado (Mark), and Christopher Wright (Deut). I picked up Fee because he is one of those who is referenced/interacted with on Pastoral Epistles. I also got Bruce just because others like him a lot.
I got the Galatians one because it is apparently written from the "New Perspective" and thought it might be helpful.
I considered a few other OT ones (Jonker, for one) but found too little on them, and thought that they seemed brief and I likely would not use them much anyway.
I did not get Evans (because it was brief, tho some really liked it) and I didn't get Ramsay's John because I have the NICNT series (he authors John)
I like Apples. Especially Honeycrisp.
