Adding W. Randall Garr's introductory essay to Driver's "A Treatise on the Use of the Tenses

While perusing my print copy of this title, I noticed that it contains an introductory essay by W. Randall Garr, entitled, "Driver's Treatise and the Study of Hebrew: Then and Now." It appears to be a very informative piece. I'd love to see this added to an update to the Logos version of Driver. Not only would it make the availability of the essay in Logos everything that is good about having resources in Logos format, but it would also allow me to sell my print copy without feeling as though I was losing something [:D]. For now, I'm going to hold onto my print copy...and add reading this essay to my pile of "to read."

Indeed. I hadn't thought about that. I just need to find an electronic copy of it. Transcribing it by hand would be quite the chore, as it is somewhat lengthy. Well, it's off to see if I can find it online. If I do, I'll post a link to it on this thread for others.

Driver is PD, that introduction was written for a 1998 reprint, so it is not. Dice logos would presumably have to pay royalties on every book already sold (when i am sure almost no one has ever paid the purchase price on the product page) to issue copyrighted work as an update, it is unlikely to happen.

I was thinking along the same lines, though I figured there was no harm in asking. I'm actually finishing up an email to Dr. Garr, asking about the possible availability of the essay in an e-format, and seeking his permission for me to use it in a personal book within Logos. We'll see what he says.

Well, I heard back from Dr. Garr. Although he has no problem with me making a personal book out of his essay, he doesn't have an e-copy of it to share. In fact, he said if I do find one, he'd love to have a copy of it.

So, I will continue to hunt for it online, though at this point, it doesn't look promising. I may just need to live only having the print version as part of my copy of Driver.
