Why do I have to use Amazon?

Why do I have to use Amazon to learn that Cn in the NRSV note means "correction"? Why can't I find that basic information in my Faithlife NRSV?

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Actually, you don't have to use Amazon. In the NRSV Logos digital edition after the Title Page, there is To The Reader in which you can find that information:

"Occasionally it is evident that the text has suffered in transmission and that none of the versions provides a satisfactory restoration. Here we can only follow the best judgment of competent scholars as to the most probable reconstruction of the original text. Such reconstructions are indicated in footnotes by the abbreviation Cn (“Correction”), and a translation of the Masoretic Text is added."

You mean people actually READ the "To the Reader" rather than simply look for the table that they are used to in their print Bibles? What a novel idea!

However, re: the mistakes part ... I've spent so long with computers that they taught me to make thousands of mistakes in the same time it takes a mere human to find just one. However, computers are still far better than I at catching their own errors and correcting them.[:D]
