Resources listed when opening new tabs

I have a question about the resources listed when opening a new tab. I currently have the ESV Bible open to Luke 4:16. When I click on the ‘plus’ icon to open a new tab I see a long list of covers on the left side of the new page and on the right there are 6 resources listed under the header: ‘Resources with Luke 4:16-30. What I am trying to understand is how it came up with these lists of resources. I have about 40 commentaries that cover this section based on a passage guide lookup of this section. The 6 items that appear in the new tab list are a mix of prioritized and non-prioritized items. It seems quite random to be honest. It would be nice if this list matched the passage guide rather than just a few seemingly random items. Can someone explain how this list is generated and if I have any control over what resources appear here?

Thanks for the link to MJ's post. What I am seeing does not seem to match her description. The 6 resources seem to stay the same even when I try several different passages. I even opened a verse in a different Bible translation (NIV) and I still see the same list of 6. A resource that includes this section of Luke I had opened in the last session does not appear in the list of 6, so it seems to be not just recently opened items. I cannot seem to see any relation to the items based on my actual recent usage. I don't think I've ever even opened the Apologetics Study Bible that appears in the list (Logos seems to confirm this with the read icon listing 0%).

Then panel on the left shows some of your most recently opened resources/tools (but not all). I've no idea why some are left out. IMO it's fairly useless.

The panel on the right shows a prioritised list of resources for the current reference, and of the same type (so if you're looking at Bibles it will show Bibles, if you're looking at Commentaries, it will show commentaries, etc.). It should be the same as the "All parallel resources list".

The Left panel contents make sense and do seem to match my recent items (though I can't say for sure if it is exhaustive). The right panel definitely does not include all my prioritized resources that would contain articles on this section of Luke (or the other passages I tested). I also verified that the Apologetics Study Bible that shows in the list is not in my prioritized resources, nor has it ever been opened. I would definitely like this to function like the passage guide and include at least all my prioritized resources for the current open resource I am viewing. The right panel functionality seems definitely broken to me.

As I said in my edit, it will only show resources of the same type as the present resource. If you're in a Study Bible, it will only include other Study Bibles. Commentaries and Bibles are deliberately excluded.

That's irrelevant.

Logos has it's own default prioritisation list that is always taken into consideration after custom prioritisation. You won't want resources to be invisible unless they were prioritised.

It's just prioritisation. Frequency of use doesn't come into it (if we're talking about the parallel resources menu and the right panel of 'New Tab', which are identical).

I see in your layout you have the ESV in the left panel and the New Tab on the right, on top of tabs for two study Bibles (which belong to the Logos Type "Bible Notes") and one commentary (which is a "Bible Commentary" to Logos). (These are official Logos "Types." A resource can only have one Type and it is assigned by Logos. To check the Type of a resource, you can look in the resource info pane--the circled "i" at the upper right corner of the resource--or in the Library listing.)

If you have Bible-indexed resources of various Logos "Types" that you like to consult regularly, you might want to create a Collection of those resources, checking the box "Show in parallel resources." Then you can choose this collection in the Parallel Resources pop-up when you start your study, and arrow-key through just that collection. This is a Morris Proctor tip that has really helped me.

This makes sense. I do like to keep the main resource I am reading in one pane and then open resources related to that in a second pane. I do notice if I use the + in the same pane as the Bible, it opens a different list of resources. It would be nice to mark a resource or a pane as the 'primary' and so all resources open in relation to that.

I was simply repeating information from Morris Proctor in his manuals which appeared to match my experience. I may have misunderstood him as he was uncharacteristically unclear.

The assumption is that you have clicked the add tab to open a resource to research something that you have just read - thus what is offered is based on what the system's interpretation of what you have just done/read.

It would just be nice if this logic also included something you read that was not in the same pane. I like to have the primary resource I am reading in one pane and all the supplementary material in another pane with multiple tabs. Even if I am reading and scrolling the main resource (thus making it the last item read), the new tab opened is based on an item in the same pane, which for me is my supplementary resources. I understand why it works this way, it just would be nice if there was a way to change the behavior. At this point I can say the 'mystery' is solved.
