Mattoon

This sucks! 51 volumes by Rod Mattoon for less than $149 in the other software and the old volumes that are in Logos (43 total) neither one has seen the light since the time they entered prepub! What a bummer! I may just have to get them elsewhere

That "Other" software is my primary Bible Study Software. And I have the Mattoon series. I have not read through them much yet, but I did just share this snip-it elsewhere from the Volume on revelations.
Ray Bakke shares the story about a Glasgow professor named MacDonald who was put into a German prison camp in WW2, along with a chaplain from Scotland. A tall, wire fence separated the Americans from the British in this P.O.W. camp. MacDonald was assigned to the American barracks and the chaplain with the British.
The German guards did not know that the Americans had a homemade radio and were able to get news of the war. MacDonald would take a headline everyday to the fence and share it with the chaplain in the ancient Gaelic language which the Germans could not understand.
One day the news reported that the German high command had surrendered and the war was over. MacDonald took the news to the chaplain and then watched him disappear into the barracks. Moments later, a roar of cheering erupted from the British barracks.
The camp was transformed as despair was replaced with hope and anticipation. Men walked around singing, shouting, laughing, and waving at the German guards. When the guards heard the news three days later, they fled into the dark of the night, abandoning the camp, and leaving the gates unlocked. The next morning, the prisoners walked out of the camp as free men. Yet, they had truly been set free three days earlier by the news that the victory had been won and the war was over.
We too, can now rejoice as Christians, even though the Lord has not returned yet, for we know He is going to return for us and win the victory over Satan. We know the final outcome of the battle and have been set free from the bondage of sin through the blood of Jesus Christ. May we rejoice in His coming and be watching for His return.

Love me some Mattoon.... Sad that our Logos constituency isn't interested in adding him to the catalogue so that we may download and use his works. They still languish in the dungeon of Gathering Interest after more than 2 years (well, that's how long ago I preordered them). Does it speak to the frugality of Baptists (Mattoon and I are of the same denomination), his literal and alliterated exegesis, his obscurity as a author, or perhaps his writing style? I don't know, but like DAL, I'm tempted to go "all in" for Mattoon in the other software.

I had placed a pre-pub order with Logos back in July 2013 for both Mattoon's OT and NT commentary series. But considering they are only at about 40% in the 'gathering interest' stage, I chose not to wait any longer and purchased the larger number of volumes from another provider a few days ago.
These are very well-rounded commentaries and are packed with historical information, word studies, illustrations, translation comparisons, topical and character studies, practical applications, and on an on.
I say all of this to encourage other forum members to look into the value of these commentaries for themselves and to nudge Logos to get these resources into production.

I ordered Matoon on 6/29/2012. I knew the day I ordered it that it would sit in PrePub forever. The reason I thought so is that I don't think there are enough Baptists using Logos in order to buy it. The primary denominations using Logos are not interested in it---too simplistic/not cutting edge, etc. However this is the kind of stuff I love. I still haven't bought it in the other software yet, because I don't really want my personal Bible study habits to involve using multiple software platforms. But I guess if I want things like Mattoon, Preacher's Outline and Sermon Bible, and Adrian Rogers Sermon Archive, I'm going to eventually have to take the plunge, since I'm not getting any younger.

At least I'll be getting my consolation price in the John Phillips Alliterated Commentaties shipping soon:
https://www.logos.com/product/47134/john-phillips-commentary-series
And the price on this one is similar to the other software so it's a good thing!

One must remember that Wordsearch is owned by the Baptist publishing house so it makes sense it has resources near and dear to the baptists.

Interestingly, Bob has stated that Baptists are the overwhelming majority of Logos customers. Go figure.....

May the reason it hasn't moved faster is because many of us already have it in paper or another software. I am not a Baptist but it is one of my favorites.

Or maybe we just don't have the funds to purchase another set and its not about lack of interest, there is much that comes through the prepub program I have to make a choice to pass on simply based on a financial choice rather than not being interested in the resource.

I use Logos and the "other software" for sermon prep. I, too, have and use all the Mattoon.

The tagging on this one is not that complicated, so I don't understand why Logos is charging way too much. Like Butler's ABE is more expensive in Logos and the tagging is just as basic as the one offered by WS. Yet John Phillips commentaries are same price as WS and the tagging is still basic. I don't know, I think they should have a reduced introductory price; it might sell that way or not. Oh well...

I'd be interested in purchasing these.

I agree price is too high on these but we have no idea on pricing decisions what factors come into play. Maybe it is / maybe it is not Logos that is the sticking point on the price of some of these resources.
