The colored Pinwheel of Death on Mac

How many of you get the dreaded colored pinwheel of death for just a moment when you first log into Logos on Mac? That seems to be the only time that I ever see that. The guy who does my computer work says that means that I have a hard drive going bad if I get that on a Mac. Now, I know things can be shipped "broken" but this computer is less than 5 months old. Just wondering if others see that when Logos is first starting up and logging in. Thanks!

You needn't worry about your Mac! The whole Logos startup process needs some serious optimization. Startup is terribly sluggish considering my Macbook specs and a NovaBench score of 1317 (as of a couple days ago), and I usually see the pinwheel for a bit during Logos startup.

Your friend is right that seeing the pinwheel may precede a HD crash... but he is wrong that seeing the pinwheel indicates such.

If you are interested in seeing what is going on, you can post logs. It would be good to know more about your system as well.

    Thanks Guys.

It is the new 2015 12" Macbook. So the specs are not incredibly robust but it runs Logos very well (100x better than my i7 PC did). It has a 250GB solid State HD and 8 GB Ram with a 1.6 core M processor. As I said, Logos seems to be the only program I see it at start up, but then runs absolutely wonderfully.

    Good morning Michael

I just checked and my MacBook Pro 2015 also gets the "dreaded colored pinwheel of death" for about two seconds during the load of the Logos tabs.

I have 16 to 20 some tabs on my layout. I don't think this is a major problem.

P.S. how many seconds does the pinwheel go on your MacBook, how many tabs are you loading? Have you tried to start Logos to a black screen and see if you get  the pinwheel?

I've set Logos to always open to a blank workspace. Loads fast and painlessly on my 2010 imac, 512SSD 8Gb Ram.
