CampLogos DVDs

I spent almost an hour with "tech support" (not really what it used to be when Logos was smaller) with no help at all. I have a very simple request: How do I delete/uninstall ALL files (about 30 GB) of the CampLogos Live DVDs installed on my Mac hard drive? The installation program neither allows you to specify where the data is going nor does it tell you where it will put them. And tech support says it's a Mac issue not Logos! The only thing i can do is uninstall the app itself, but that only removes 20MB—the app itself, not the data. Searching for resources on the DVD provides mp4 files but these are not to be found on my Mac (unless hidden or renamed or compressed in some format). Tech support said i might find a developer on this forum that could help, but she can't! "Whoever wrote it might not even be here anymore."

Anyone got an answer? If not, I would warn Mac users to NOT install CampLogos on your hard drive unless you know for a fact you'll never want that space again!

So if you do a spotlight search for Name> .mp4, none of these videos come up?

You can also search for files that are large. Check the file size on the disc and do a spotlight search for all files that between a reasonable file size range (click the + under the Search box, choose Other/File Size in the left drop down). You'll need two File Size searches for a range.

Thanks, but that's the problem. Many mp4 files but none of CampLogos. I also know the names of the files (clicking the custom button during the installation shows the names of all of the files on the disc), but none show up!

I don't know anything abt camp logos but i did do a google search and found this bit of info. It might help out.

    Quoting one of the posts:

Depending on how much space you have, it's worth noting that videos in Logos/Verbum 6 stream the first time you play them and then are saved to your computer. However, if you go into the info panel of a media resource, you can have it delete all of the downloaded videos. (This does not delete the resource framework.) So you could, for example, watch an hour of videos, then delete, then watch an hour, etc., delete all, etc. It's inconvenient, but it would save you a lot of space.

The difference with me is I bought the DVDs, not the streaming version (a few years ago), so this post doesn't pertain. CampLogos for me is a standalone program and is NOT accessed through the Logos application. It's actually a Flash implementation, running the mp4 files, I believe.

Probably a long shot, but would Morris Proctor know?

Well, it actually IS a Mac issue... but it's a shame that (apparently) no one in customer service understands macs. [:s]

For at least 3-4 years now, Apple has chosen to hide the user library by default. I don't have these DVD's, but I am sure you will be able to figure this out. Try this:

    1. From a "finder" window, go to the "go" menu and press (and hold) the option key.
    2. If you did that correctly, your user library will appear as a menu option. Click on it.
    3. In all likelihood, the files/folder you will want to delete will be somewhere in the "Application Support" folder.

Was there a "camp logos" application? If so, there will probably be a "camp logos" folder under application support. If there isn't, and if you can't easily find it, let us know.

Thanks, but what I meant by "not a Mac issue" is the installer program is likely hard-coded as to where the files/folder(s) go and someone must know that--be it a Mac-determined folder or developer-determined folder.

It's not in the system or root library folders (application support folder or any other). I've had hidden files turned on and searched the entire drive and no help. Did all of this before calling support or posting here. I did just find (at the bottom of the home page) a Contact Us link on Morris' site. Maybe he can help.

    Thanks everyone so far!

    OK. That is weird.

I do agree with Customer Service that it isn't a "Logos" (the application) issue. It is, however, a "Faithlife" (the company) issue. If they don't provide support for it, they should have directed you to Morris Proctor and saved you 55 minutes. [;)]

Okay, for anyone who cares, the mystery is solved—I'm like a dog with a bone! Without going into details, here's where the files are located:

    ~/Library/Application Support/MPSeminars/CampLogos2/resources/media

I had missed the MPSerminars folder, looking just for the CampLogos2 folder. Contained in the media folder was, of course, all of the mp3 files. The reason I had not found any of them in searching for mp3 files is the fact they are within the ~/Library and, therefore, hidden. I had forgotten to add hidden files to my searches criteria.
