BUG: Mobile Ed NT221 (The Widsom of John) won't play on Faithlife TV

NOTE: I entered this originally in the Faithlife TV forum, but it looks like there's very little action there, so I'm hoping it's OK to post it here in the General forum.
The Mobile Ed NT221 course plays fine from within LOGOS, but won't play on Faithlife TV, either from my Roku or via the web on my PC. I don't have this problem with any of my other Mobile Ed courses.
When this course is selected from my Roku, rather than loading, there's a pause and then the Roku just returns to it's home page. When selected from the Faithlife TV web page via my PC, I just get a message that says "Error loading item".
I'm wondering if anyone else has a problem with the course via Faithlife TV.

I can confirm the behavior you described on PC through faithlifetv.com. I've never tried to watch any of the courses on my Roku box, but I assume it will have the same behavior since it won't work on PC.

Thank you, Joseph! It's always a major help to know if a problem is unique to the person reporting it or if others see the same thing. I'll wait a while to see if Faithlife comments on the problem.Joseph Turner said:I can confirm the behavior you described on PC through faithlifetv.com. I have also found another bug in this course that causes a problem even when in Logos 6. I.e. within the Gospel of John, when attempting to play the video segment titled "The First Trial and Peter's Denial", the segment will not load. Instead, a message is displayed that begins "We couldn't access the media you're trying to play. Please verify that you are not working offline." I wonder if this might be what's preventing this course from loading and playing anything from Faithlife TV, whether trying to do so from a web browser or Roku as noted in my original post.Rick Ausdahl said:

Faithlife ...would you please comment on this bug?
PS: While going through this particular course from within Logos 6, I have also had other video segments that simply stop loading. Sometimes I can get them to continue loading if I jump to a different segment and then come back. At other times, I've had to close Logos and restart it. I have not had this problem with any of the videos in my other Mobile Ed courses.

Hi Rick, that video plays fine for me - "The First Trial and Peter's Denial".
So I would suggest three things while waiting for Faithlife to reply;
First, click the 'i' in the top right corner of the displayed course resource, and see if your resource versions are the same as mine:
LLS:NT221WITHERINGTON 2015-03-30T20:18:47Z NT221WITHERINGTON.logos4
LLS:NT221WITHERINGTONVIDEOS 2015-06-02T16:11:39Z NT221WITHERINGTONVIDEOS.logos4Second, if they match, I would Hide the two NT221 resources (course and video), restart Logos, then unhide them, restart, and they will re-download. It's possible one or the other got corrupted in its original download to your computer maybe?
Third choice would be to click to open the Videos NT221 resource from your library, click the down arrow at the top left right below the picture of the resource, and choose "Download all media". See if getting them on your computer helps the problems you are having.
This all presumes that videos in other courses work fine?

In regard to you question about other courses, yes, the videos in all my other courses work fine in all venues (Logos 6 on my PC, Faithlife TV via my browser, and Faithlife TV via my Rokus). This is the only one I'm having trouble with and it seems more than coincidental that I'm having the trouble with this one in all of the venues that work fine with the other courses.
In regard to you suggestions, I checked the versions for both resources (course text and videos) and they do match what you have. I then followed the process you explained for hiding and unhiding both resources. They did re-download after unhiding them, but I still had the same problem with the video that won't play. I'm now in the process of downloading the media. It's taking much longer than I expected (my internet connection is 12 Mb/S). At least I "assume" the media is downloading because selecting the down arrow from the resource icon now has an option to "cancel" the download, but I don't see the typical message or blue circle that Logos displays when doing standard downloadis, updates, library preparation, or indexing--so that leaves me wondering. At this point (after apx 40-45 minutes since requesting the media download), attempting to play the problem video still results in the same error message about the media not be accessible. I'll check it again after running some errands.

There is no status message for downloading the videos, you just have to wait until the option it gives you is to delete the videos - that's how you know it's done (and you may want to after this is all over, as it does take a lot of space - but this eliminates networking weirdness from the problem investigation).
If this doesn't work either, then unless others have an idea we do have to wait for Faithlife to chip in some thoughts, sorry!

Well, the downloading of the media finished (I now have the option to delete the media), but the problem remained, so although I didn't think it would be a factor, I did a rebuild of the index. Still no luck. There must be something different about this particular video in this course as I was able to play all 49 of the videos in the course that preceded this one, and I've been able to play all subsequent videos in the course up to the point I am now, in 1 John. And again, no problems with any of the videos in any of my other courses. Guess I'll have to check with support.Don Awalt said:There is no status message for downloading the videos, you just have to wait until the option it gives you is to delete the videos - that's how you know it's done (and you may want to after this is all over, as it does take a lot of space - but this eliminates networking weirdness from the problem investigation).

I do appreciate the suggestions though--they were definitely worth a try. [:)]
