I wanted to add a tag to a text selection today (in Plutarch's Cimon, Perseus edition). Add Community Notes shows but not Add Community Tag. The feature is set to show (yes) in settings. What's up with that?
I don't think YOU add community tags, but rather the collective "we" do. Similar to popular highlights. At least, that is my understanding.
I believe tags are automatically generated based on personal tags of users once a certain number of users use a particular tag.
wich Book is it? I try a Plutarch and I can see Ad Tag...what is it at all?
Well, here is what the help file says:
I have tried other resources as well, and it does not show as an option in the context menu either. In addition to it being set to yes in the settings, I have also turned it on in the visual filter drop down menu: makes no difference (so Sasha, it does not seem that it depends on a specific resource, but you can try the procedure above to see if you do see "Add community tag" in the context menu).
I wonder if there is an embarrassing mix up. The help file sounds like it is telling you how to add a community NOTE.
Did you watch the video? https://logos.wistia.com/medias/f3xi1insvz
I followed the video step by step and was unable to reproduce what was being shown. I am also skeptical about the feature in general... although I am pretty skeptical about any of the "community" features.
I cannot reproduce the steps either. In addition to your and mine comment, here are screenshots to illustrate:
From the video (based on Matthew 12:24 ESV, the word Beelzebub as selection):
What I see in my attempt to reproduce it:
It might be because there is allready one and it just Worked in the ESV
after I remooved the Community Tag it worked
What version and platform are you both on? I am using L6.9.0.0029 on Mac OS X 10.11.3
Ho can I find it?
Just see 6.9 and I have Windows
6.9 Windows
Francis I just addet a Communitiy Tag to Plutarch Ci 1:1
Found the solution:
Unless it is set to show in the resource, the Add Community option does not appear in the context menu.
Problem solved. Thanks to all for your contribution.
PS: It would be good if Faithlife added this to the documentation.

This is still not documented correctly. I just went through what Francis did until I found this post.

Francis,
Thanks for pointing this out. We'll update the help file to make things more clear.
EDIT: I've updated the Help File, so the next time the resource is shipped it should be clearer.
