It was a magazine. Each monthly volume is published as a separate 'book'. I would like to make a table of contents that includes all of the monthly volumes.

So the "magazines" are indeed Logos resources, right? The only way I can think of is to create a personal book using the personal book builder tool. Are you familiar with that? The tool itself is "easy," but composing the book with the functionality you want might not be.
Which magazne?

Create a Collection with Magazines, then make a Bibliography from it and export this to Word. Than create a Personal Book and you have a TOC

Sascha John - that creates a table of contents of each month, what I would like is a listing of all the articles / authors. Any way to create that from the collection?

If your magazines have a Contents at the beginning then you can select the contents in the magazine and Print/Export that to a Word document. For successive magazines when you Print/Export you can have it append to the Word document.
You may want to tag the authors for each article for searching in Logos later.
Below is a quick example for TableTalk magazine contents that i built in a Word doc and then created a Personal Book. The image below shows the Personal Book in Logos. (A) is the Personal Book built using the Word document.
Here is the example Word doc that i built:
Edit 2: ===============================================================
Here are the step-by-step instructions for how i created the above PB (Personal Book) for the TOC. If the images are too small, click on an image to have your browser show you the image full size.
Let's begin:
1) Open the magazine in Logos
[you will probably want to start with the oldest magazine]2) Find the TOC (Table Of Contents) for this magazine. Then with your mouse drag and select all TOC entries.
3) Click on the magazine's icon to show the menu options for this magazine
4) Now click on the Print/Export menu item
5) In the Print/Export window click on Send To New Document -> Microsoft Word.
[Logos will print the selected text you did in step #2 to a New microsoft Word document.
Logos will include the hyperlinks that were in the magazine's TOC in the Word document.
Don't forget to close this Print/Export window, otherwise it will be confusing if more than
one Print/Export window is open.]Now let's go edit our MS Word document
6a) You will want to Save your Word document in a known place and name it.
6b) [optional] Select the main Headings and click on Heading1 in the styles area of the tab tools.
[This will instruct Logos to add it to our PB's menu for our PB.]6c) [optional] Select secondary Headings and click on Heading2 in the styles area of the tab tools.
[This will instruct Logos to add it to our PB's menu as indented entries in our PB.]6d) [optional] Add these field texts around each Author .
[This will instruct Logos to mark an author as an Author field. Useful for searching in Logos later.]Now back to Logos to open the Personal Book tool
7a) In Logos' menu click on Tools
7b) Select Personal Books
[This will have Logos open the Personal Books tool. It is often wise to open it in a floating window.
The above image may look slightly different than yours, i am running on Logos5, but Logos6 is similar.]8a) Now in the Personal Book tool window, click on the Add Book button.
[You only need to do this once for each new book. In our case we will only do it once.]8b) Now let's give our Personal Book a Title (e.g. i named it Magazine TOC example)
8c) [optional] You can set this Personal Book to be a Magazine
[you only do this the first time you create your personal book]8d) Now click on the Add file button. Then locate your Word document that you saved in step #6a
[Logos will keep track of your Word document associated for our Personal Book now.]8e) Now click on the Build book button.
[Logos will now read our Word document and build our personal book.
When it is done, Logos will open our Personal book.
After the first time the personal book is built, Logos will in the Personal Book tool will place our personal book
entry in aphebetical order, so the next you will need to locate the personal book. Don't create another personal
book with the same name, just scroll to locate the personal book we just built.]8f) As mentioned in step #8e, Logos opened our personal book.
Adding more magazine TOCs to our Personal Book
9) Now we can add another magazine's TOC to our personal book.
a) Repeat steps 1-4 to add the next magazine's TOC
b) But in step #5 (the Print/Export step) click on Paste into Open document -> Microsoft Word.
[This instructs Logos to paste into our already opened Word document that we created in step #5 & 6.]c) Then edit the newly added TOC info per steps 6b - 6d and then use the Word's Save feature to add it to our Word doc.
d) Now go to our Logos window where we have our Personal Book tool open.
[You may need to scroll to find the personal book entry we originally made.
You may need to click on the Finish button if you forgot to click on it after the book was built.
Don't create another new personal book!]e) Click on the personal book entry and then click on the Build book button (we are repeating step # 8e).
[Logos will re-build our personal book and open it for us.]f) Repeat step # 9 for each magazine that you want to append to your personal book.
