TIP of the day: Sense lines 2 ways

The post two separate ways to get the Scripture to appear in sense lines - the units used by lectors and liturgical readers when they proclaim the Scripture or read Scripture in a class or workshop.

1. First identify a Palette that contains a markup that creates a new line. (Sorry I don't know how to enter such a highlight directly).

2. Duplicate the Palette.

3. Scroll to the new Palette.

4. Rename the Palette to an appropriate name.

5. Then delete any styles that are not needed.

6. Then set the file name for saving the highlights. As the markup is always for a particular translation, I prefer in this case to name the palette to reflect the translation and use a palette specific note file. This is not my general practice, merely what I find works best for sense line and similar filters.

7. Then select the sense lines and click on the highlight. (Others may prefer to set up a hot key for the highlight).

8. The alternative method is to create a Sentence Diagram showing the sense lines. Begin at Documents --> New --> Sentence Diagram.

9. Provide an appropriate title for the Sentence Diagram document.

10. Choose the passage and translation for a Text Flow diagram format.

11. Stay calm as you realize that Logos/Verbum has stripped all punctuation and retained ver number -- the reverse of what you want.

12. Grab the first word that will make up the 2nd line and move it immediately under the first line ....repeating until done.

13.One can grab and drag the margin line to expand the width so that no sense line wraps around.

14. Finished product.

Third option: when available in Logos format, many lectionary books (in contrast to tables) come in sense lines.

Nifty techniques!  I tried to duplicate your results using the Copy Bible function using the Oration: One Verse Per Line format.  I copied into a Note and then used simple line breaks for the sense lines.  Disadvantages of this procedure MJ?

No disadvantages that I can see - it is a good third option. Thanks.
