Mine is the same size as others on the desktop.
The check mark in the upper left hand corner makes me think something didn't go as normal (like Mark my icon is normal). Can you right click on it and in properties change the icon?
It looks like you are using the View->Large Icons setting (Right-click on desktop and click view to see this). At the moment I don't think we have the large (i believe it is 256x256 size) icons that this view uses, I will look into this.
