Portions of resource unavailable when reading offline

Whenever I travel, I like to read on the airplane and I often use the Logos/Verbum app to do so.  With a 128gb iPad, my entire library is downloaded for offline use; however, I can generally only make it about 6-10 pages before the remainder of a resource is blank. This makes it impossible to read any one resource for more than 15 or so minutes before I have to put it down and move onto something else.  The first image attached shows one such resource. As you can see, the text is cut-off mid-sentence and the remainder of the resource is blank even though the progress bar shows there is more to the book. The second image shows that the resource is indeed downloaded and should be available for offline viewing. This happens with every resource I’ve tried so it isn’t a single resource issue. Not sure what I'm missing... (other than large parts of the book).

    Hi Corey,

What version of the app are you using, and is scrolling view turned on or off?

That is not recommended! Many problems can occur, plus the best fix for many problems is a delete and reinstall.

'Bama, you're like a dog with a bone on that issue. Perhaps every time you reply with that observation / recommendation, you could send another request to FL that they catch up with the rest of the iOS app world and make everything work correctly with downloaded content - like the Kindle app, or the Amazon music app, or any number of other apps.

The kindle app doesn't have a "download all" button. Nor do its resource files get updated as often. Nor can RI data get shifted because of out of date files. Other than that, great example. [;)]

I am having this same trouble, and only with a couple of resources downloaded.  I do have scrolling turned on - it was default on iPhone.  I did not try my iPad because it was not with me this past weekend.  I intentionally downloaded two resources so I could have them along on a camping trip.  Using 5.1.4 on iPhone.

Obviously deleting and reinstalling when you are without any internet or phone service is not possible.  And if I had those services I would not have noticed that the app was not working the way I wanted it to...

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Craig

Have you tried 1) rotating the device or 2) turning off scrolling view to see if the issue is resolved?

Version 5.1.4. I usually use scrolling mode, but did try switching when it occurred and got the same result. However, maybe once it gets hung up in scrolling mode, changing it won't help? I can test more in airplane mode starting in normal mode.

Corey, I just want to make sure I understand this issue. Were the same portions of text that went missing when the Scrolling View setting was turned on also missing after you turned the Scrolling View setting off?

Okay, so I just tested it in a couple different ways with the following results:

    1. Set Scrolling Mode to ON
    2. Set Airplane Mode to ON
    3. Moved through a resource a few pages and sure enough, at a certain point, the text ends even though there is more to the resource.
    4. Set Scrolling Mode to OFF
    5. The portions of the text missing remains missing. I can only flip the page backwards but going forwards will end in the same place with the same text missing as in scrolling mode.
    6. Turned Airplane Mode to OFF
    7. Within about 10 seconds, the remaining text in the resource reappears and I am able to continue scrolling and/or flipping pages and reading.

    Then I tried this way:

    1. Set Scrolling Mode to OFF
    2. Flipped through a few pages.
    3. Set Airplane Mode to ON
    4. Flipped through a few more pages and then I can go no further. It would appear that at some point, the remainder of the resource is unavailable and so it will not let me advance pages.
    5. Set Airplane Mode to OFF
    6. After about 10 seconds, I can begin advancing pages again.

It would appear from this experiment that it works the same (or rather does not work) regardless of the setting of scrolling mode ON or OFF.
