Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback.

Were the journals you listed at the end the only options you are considering?

    Phil,

I didn't see these options in the survey but I would like to see ways people who are new to logos can start getting into the Journals.  I'm very interested in Bibliotheca Sacra but its last update was from 2014 and the only way to get it is via a one chunk buy.  It'd be nice if I could buy it in pieces.

Also, Master's Seminary Journal's last volume in Logos is 18.  Master's most current journal was 26 so there are 16 issues missing.  Any way that can be updated as well?

For clarification on my math, Master's Seminary Journal has two issues for each volume.  They come out twice a year.  Volume 18 is from 2007 which was 8 years ago

I would also like to say that since Logos took over from Galaxie journal production, I have not seen proportional quality for the price increase and the delay of the journals.

I took the survey but did not find it very helpful at all.  It may be helpful if you make the thinking clearer to us.  There already are journal bundles.  I would suggest you should keep offering various journal bundles and keep those bundles the same, possibly adding journals to bundles that are appropriate, and adjusting the price as a result.  Another idea is to keep bundles such as Masters, Academic etc, but then make new bundles such as OT, NT, Evangelical, Protestant, Catholic, International, etc.

    price increase

To clarify, the price per journal actually decreased.

    delay of the journals

To clarify, we're releasing updates to journals sooner than before.

Thanks.  I did not see that post before.  Someone mentioned subscription to a permanent update.  I guess that is similar to Logos NOW?  where we get content now and when it becomes available in Logos 7, we would get the content at a very discounted price?  If that is what you are thinking, then that is not a bad idea. But the survey did not make that clear to me at all.  The survey showed me that you are only considering the journals that were listed.  Is that correct?

That's a possible option, but not easy, and not what was being considered in the survey.

Logos Now is pure access-only subscription. You get access to the content included in Logos Now only as long as you continue to subscribe. When Logos 7 comes out, you'll already have access to the features of Logos 7, since they're all included in Logos Now, and you'll be able to get a Logos 7 book-only library instead of buying a Logos 7 base package (which will include all of the features, datasets, interactives, etc., which you already have access to with your Now subscription). The library will cost quite a bit less than the full base package, so you'll get a discounted price from that perspective.

No. I just picked the top 20 or so by rank from our master list of 700+. We're considering more, but want to make sure we're focusing on the right ones next.

Is the Stone Campbell Journal a possible addition to the journals in Logos?

Not to hijack the thread, but that's a very helpful clarification, and makes a lot of sense.

Phil, How hard can it be? It's like a magazine subscription!?

I'll grant that there are some similarities to a magazine subscription (or even a journal subscription!), but there are some complicating dissimilarities.

With a magazine or journal subscription, there are several key constants: you get w issues of x journal every y months for z dollars. The constant nature of these four items makes this model work well in this case.

Unfortunately, most or all of these aren't constant in our model.

    1. We don't know how many new issues or volumes we'll have available each quarter.
    2. We don't know which issues or volumes we'll have available.
    3. We don't know if we'll be able to fund and ship them every quarter.
    4. And we don't know how much to charge you for them.

Now, we could set an artificial cap and say we're going to deliver 50 volumes every quarter for $50, but what if you want 25 or 100? And what if you don't like the 50 we chose for you? There are too many variables and too much need for customization for this to scale well. The survey itself shows that there's quite a spectrum in terms of appetite and budget for journal content from our users.

I'm open to proposed solutions to this, but unfortunately it isn't as simple as a magazine subscription.

    Phil,

Thanks for the info and updates! Speaking for myself, if it were simply offered on a payment plan I suspect many more people would sign up for the pre-pub. None of us know the economics for Logos, but it would seem that you're fishing in a very small pond of folks who have $800 to spend on journals all at once as opposed to a lot more who could plunk down $150 and eat that elephant over 12 months at $54 per month. In fact, I'd buy a lot more resources if the down payments were a little lower and the payments were spread out over a longer period (and I buy quite a bit as it is).

    Thanks for all you do!
