Ipad Mini 2 32gb performance with Logos apps

Hi,

I have been using android and kindle fire tablets with the FaithLife apps. I am unsatisfied with my current Kindle Fire HDX 7 32 because the apps are always auto updating. Also the Amazon app store hardly ever has my apps updated until a few weeks after the Play Store updates.

So as I am looking at a tablet upgrade, I see I can purchase an iPad 2 Mini for a few more dollars than an android of similar features. Best Buy has this one:

My Nexus 7 2012 is all but useless since Lollipop 5.1.1 installed. It is not much better on KitKat 4.4.4. Thus my Kindle Fire purchase last year.

I am looking at an Asus ZenPad with 4 GB / 64 GB memory.

Will the iPad perform as well as the android, given the iPad as only 1 GB / 32 GB? I have never used Apple products.

I was in the same boat and needed to upgrade my Nexus 7 2012 for a better tablet that ran Logos. I looked at the Galaxy and some others but went to the Nexus 7 2013 and absolutely love it, Runs extremely fast (night and day over the 2012) and the screen in beautiful. The cool thing is I found the 32gb LTE model for $149 refurbished. I still think even for a 2013 model the Nexus 7 is still one of the best tablets out there. You may no interest going back to Nexus but thought I would throw that out there especially since they are getting pretty inexpensive,

That's the model I have, with no complaints about Logos usage. However, Apple is likely updating at least some models of the ipad on March 21, so prices may drop more after that.

I have an iPad Mini 2 and can say that Logos works well on it. In addition to what Ben said above about Apple announcing an updated iPad on March 21, I would also like to suggest that you check out the Apple refurbished iPads—Apple puts a new battery in them and gives them a one year warranty—in my experience, they are as good as new. Thanks for the suggestions. I will wait a few days to see what the ipad prices do.

As for the iPad Mini 2, since it has only 1 GB of Ram, does the processor speed make up for having less memory? I was wondering if iOS and android OS need similar specs to get similar results, or is one more efficient.

I almost jumped on the refurbished Nexus 7 32 (2013) when Amazon had them for $109. I waited too long, they increased them to $139, and now no refurbished units are for sale.

Have you installed the Lollipop 5.1.1 upgrade? Did it cause any lags in performance, or did it make it better? I figured since it has 2 GB Ram, it has enough resources to outperform my Nexus 7 2012 with 1 GB of Ram. Sometimes mine is quick, then the next moment it freezes and has to be turned off.

I actually have Marshmallow 6.0.1 on it and it runs beautiful with no lags at all (actually seems faster than when I had 5.1.1). I loved the original 2102 version but there is no comparison between the 2012 and 2013. Before I upgraded I did struggle with the 2012 running pretty rough. I flashed it with the Slimkat rom and it ran much better but it is still limited with the 1gb of ram.

I'm a Nexus fan overall and my N7 runs just as well as my N5x phone even though the N7 is a few years older. I had an Ipad mini 2 but gave it to my son because I preferred the Nexus. My opinion is save some some money and jump on the Nexus if you can find a good price on it again.

Thanks for the information Bill. I was concerned that the Nexus 7 2013 shared some of the same issues as my Nexus 7 2012, although at a diminished level. My Kindle Fire HDX 7 32 is top of the line hardware, yet Amazon throttles me on how I want to use it. My latest issue is Dropbox. I can't load it through my free app store "1Mobile Market", and when I try to email a link to my Kindle, it defaults to the Play Store, vs. giving me the apk link.

My daughter has a Nexus 7 2013 16GB tablet she rarely uses. I may trade her my Kindle Fire or one of my laptop computers for it. I am now in the process of reseting and updating her Nexus 7 to 6.0 and loading all of my apps.
