Auto-Syncing
I just installed 4.0 on my work computer this morning, and was thrilled to see shortcuts from my home computer on my layout. Having the computers auto-sync is awesome! Way to go Logos!

My autosync doesn't seem to function. It keeps telling me hat items are waiting o be synchronised but that's it. logos4.exe has permission to breach the firewall. I wonder if I'm missing something.

Do both computers have their permissions enabled?
Also, I did just notice that my preferred resources did not sync.Dave

Shame about the preferred resources. That's what I'd like the computers to ysnc.0 -
I put together some collections today. When I get home I'll check and see if those synced.

Yeah, they both have logos4.exe as an exception in the windows firewall. Shame about the preferred resources. That's what I'd like the computers to ysnc.
Can you please send us your Logos4.log file (after running the program for about 5 minutes). There may be sync-related errors in the log that will provide a clue as to why it's not syncing.

Damian,
I hope this gets worked out for you. So far syncing is working great for me. Everything I did today at the office synced at home within a minute of opening the program. If you can get the kinks worked out, you'll like it!

I am having simiilar experience Bradley with it sitting their waiting to synch. I turned it off but now indexing is completed I will turn it back on and see what happens and post logs if it still just sits there. Have to go out now though so will be in a few hours time before I get back to this.....

Thanks David. From the little I could make of the log file - there appears to be an error with regard to the clock. Maybe the problem is that I am in Australia
I would still love a complete list of what is synchronised - are layouts synchronised? if so do they overwrite existing layouts?

I think it actually does have to do with you being in Australia (!), and we're fixing it for the next release. (Related to time offsets from GMT.)
Everything is synced; preferences, documents, etc. Layouts are actually stored in a grid system that's independent of your screen resolution. If you have dramatically different screen sizes, though, you might want less content on the other system. Fortunately all your layouts are synced, though, so you can easily have named versions for different displays, etc.
Sync is as much for backup as it is for keeping two machines coordinated, so there are no plans at this time to give you control over which data syncs. It's all or nothing.

Ah! I had wondered why that wasn't working....

Bob,
Thanks for the response. I did guess it was based on location due to the error being clock related.
It's one of the problems with being ahead of the rest of the world.
If I change my system clock or location will this allow me to sync?

I don't believe so. I think the safest thing is to wait for the next release. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Seriously Bob it's no great inconvenience. I'm really trying to get one machine working with preferences etc. as it stands.
Now, any idea when we'll get to Beta 2? [:D]
Seriously, I've got a few books that I'd like to buy and add to my Logos 4.0 library. Currently, we don't seem to be able to do that.
To repeat what someone else said somewhere else. Thanks for your presence (and that of all of your programmers / testers) on this forum.

That makes sense as the orginal logs i sent through to Bradley had references to time zone issues. I'll hold off for now on playing with it till the next release. Thanks Bob.

Confirming this now appears to be resolved with beta 2.
