Lost highlights

I just enjoyed reading a book in the Vyrso app on the plane. As usual, I highlighted things while reading. However, I just noticed in the airport lounge that all the highlights that I entered while flying are missing now. Also after syncing, they don't show up on Logos on my Mac. It would be sad if they were gone. Highlights that I did in other books before the flight are still there. Is there a way to get the missing highlights from the flight back?

Hi Armin, I've got a few questions:

    - Have you checked your account at documents.logos.com to see if the highlights are present? (https://community.logos.com/forums/t/123105.aspx).

    - What resource were you reading?
    - Which Document(s) were your highlights stored in?
    - Was it a Palette-specific Note Document, Resource-specific document, etc.?
    - Do you have highlights turned on for that particular resource?

    Hi Kevin,

    Thanks for your fast reply.

    - No, the missing highlights do not show up in the file "Solid Colors"  at documents.logos.com

    - I am reading "10 Commitments for Dads: How to Have an Awesome Impact on Your Kids"

    - I use "Solid Colors" for highlighting.

    - I use Palette-specific note documents, i.e., the document is called "Solid Colors" in this case.

    - On my Mac, highlights are turned on for this resource, but they don't display. On my iPad, I don't think I can turn off highlights.

    - When I open the "Solid Colors" notes file on my Mac and sort them by date (should be today), they don't show up.

One idea: Could this be an issue with timezones as my iPad had a different timezone than my Mac? Could it be that the sync process assumed that my Mac is more up-to-date than my iPad and therefore deleted the highlights on my iPad?

I don't know, I've actually not tested that before but I will check and let you know on Monday.

That would be great. Thanks so much.

If this was the reason, then there will likely not be a chance for you to recover the missing highlights from your backups. Or could this still be possible?

    Hi Kevin,

Have you had a chance to look into this further?

    - No, the missing highlights do not show up in the file "Solid Colors"  at documents.logos.com

    - I am reading "10 Commitments for Dads: How to Have an Awesome Impact on Your Kids"

We're seeing highlights on the server side for that resource.  If you open Solid Colors on documents.logos.com and tap the ">>" link at the bottom right (to view the last page of your notes) you should see highlights starting with "10CD:HHAIYK" .  Are these the highlights?  Newer highlights do not appear at the beginning but at the end of a note document.

Also (as an aside), having almost 9,000 highlights in a single note document is not recommended as it can slow things down quite a bit and doesn't offer the best experience.

    - I use Palette-specific note documents, i.e., the document is called "Solid Colors" in this case.

You might consider trying Resource Specific note documents to help organize highlights better.

    - On my Mac, highlights are turned on for this resource, but they don't display. On my iPad, I don't think I can turn off highlights.

You can turn highlights off on the iPad by opening View Settings and tapping Notes, and then toggling them on/off.  https://monosnap.com/file/XmyTatJVpJLlgsoQ63UORWVNrp9oms

    - When I open the "Solid Colors" notes file on my Mac and sort them by date (should be today), they don't show up.

If the "10CD:HHAIYK" highlights are present on documents.logos.com, there might be a Desktop issue related to sort (I'm not sure).  If you open "10 Commitments for Dads: How to Have an Awesome Impact on Your Kids" on Desktop and navigate through it, do you see any of your highlights?

Thanks, Kevin. The highlights in the file "10CD:HHAIYK" are those highlights that I entered after my posting here on the Forum. The highlights that I entered at the start of the book are still missing.

But I assume this results in many different notes files, probably one per resource. Is this correct?
