Hi, I am running the Android App (4.11) on my NextBook tablet.

The highlights I do in the Android sync with my Desktop, but it does not work the other way around. Sad

Any one have a similar problem? Hmm

Is there a solution?

    One quick question - any reason you aren't running 5.1.4 - https://community.logos.com/forums/t/123648.aspx ?

My tablet will not up date to a higher version. [:(]

When I try to download the newer vision a get the message: You device isn´t compatible with this version. :)

Can we get more detailed information on the device?  (The below questions are copied from https://community.logos.com/forums/t/118701.aspx ).

    Detailed Device Information

    - Include the exact vendor, make and model number of your device.
    - Include any recent changes concerning your device - did something change (an OS upgrade), etc.
    - Include the exact Android version you are using on your particular device.
    - Are you using a rooted device?  Sorry - we do not support rooted devices.
    - Are you using an E-Ink device?  Sorry - we do not support E-Ink devices.

    Detailed Android version

    - Android 4.4.2, 5.0.1, 5.1.1, etc.

    Faithlife App name and version

    - Bible 4.6.4, Faithlife Study Bible 5.0.1, Vyrso 5.1.0 beta, etc.

Where do you find the version number?

If you open the side panel of the app and tap on Help, it should show the version number under App Info.

Unfortunately we no longer support version 4.3.9.  Can the Android version be updated on your device?

It is not a easy process that requires a cable from my tablet to the pc.

I bought the tablet to run the app a few years ago just to run Logos and loved the syncing of highlights.

Better change the web page about what is supported. [:(]

Unfortunately we don't support older Android devices and app versions.

Also, as a rule of thumb we don't recommend off-brand devices because the vendors rarely update Android to keep the devices current (as with your Nextbook).

I assumed (wrongly) that Logos would at least keep the app functioning at its previous level, I understand updates, but this is regresión.

Unfortunately, if your device can't run version 5.1.4 of our apps it's not supported and we do not promise that older versions of our apps will continue to work forever.

If you decide to purchase a supported device here is an old article but much of it is still valid: http://androidforums.com/threads/off-brand-phones-and-tablets-worth-the-low-cost.631594/ .

We have many customers that have spent thousands of dollars on Logos Software resources but then don't want to spend more than $100 (or even $50) on a mobile device. From past experience here on the Android forums these are some of our least happy customers and we sort of get the blame for not supporting older devices, but if the manufacturer of the device no longer supports it or keeps it updated there's nothing we can do.

Kevin, thanks for the response,  but as you may know, when Logos 4 or 5 came out, it was a big selling point as one of the reasons to upgrade.

So I have upgraded every time Logos put out a new version.

I have spent thousands of dollars over the last 15 years buying products from Logos, I have been with them since 2.0, on 3.5 disks.

I for one don´t care about all the new bells and whistles (new features), I just thought (incorrectly it now appears) that something that was working for the last two years on my NextBook, should keep on working at least a little while longer.

Now moving on to you "loving" comment about Android Forum users, this is the first time I needed help on this app, others might B.. about things, but do you really think you made any friends by pointing it out?

Also, do you really want to belittle people (like my self) that might not be able to afford or have access a new top of the line toy each year.

Out side of the US, many of us have to put up with buying items that are discontinued in the US (so we buy them outdated).  Also we get the added benefit (adding insult to injury) of a 15% value added tax.

So, yes some people have no other choice then to buy the cast off items from the states.

There may be nothing that you can do about the manufactures, but you can at least make available links to down load the older versions of the app.

As it is, if I have to reset the device to its factory setting for some reason, I will have lost the app completely if I don´t have a download link.

I wish Nextbook offered a newer version of Android. We've dropped support for many operating systems in the past (Windows 95, XP, Vista; OS X 10.6, 10.7, 10.8; iOS 5.x, 6.x, and (soon) 7.x; and Android 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.0, 3.1, 4.0).  We've also dropped support for the Kindle Fire (2011, 2012), Kindle Fire HD & HD 9 (2012) - because Amazon doesn't offer operating system updates for those devices.  If they did, they would likely still be supported by Faithlife.

When operating system usage drops below a certain level we have to make a hard choice.  If (for example) 40% of developer time is spent supporting an old operating system that only 1% of customers use, that's not a very good way to stay in business and to keep the 99% of customers happy.

Now moving on to you "loving" comment about Android Forum users, this is the first time I needed help on this app, others might B.. about things, but do you really think you made any friends by pointing it out?

Tom, my intent is not to belittle you and if you think I am happy that a currently supported version of our app won't run on your Nextbook you are gravely mistaken. My least favorite thing to do is to tell a customer that their device is not supported.  I've spent a lot of time with you today attempting to solve this issue but I can't and for that I apologize.

I try to give the best advice I can on these forums to prevent issues like this from happening in the future.  As I mentioned here ,"...your best bet is to purchase a current and widely used mainstream device made by a popular manufacturer."  Google, Samsung, LG, HTC, etc. are probably good choices at the moment.  That might change in 2-3 years since the mobile market is changing rapidly.

Top of the line devices are not required. One of my main test devices is a 2012 Nexus 7 that can still run Android 5.1 because Google is really good about supporting new versions of Android on their devices.  However, even Google dropped Android 6 support for this device: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/09/marshmallow-updates-start-rolling-out-to-older-nexus-devices-next-week/ .

Out side of the US, many of us have to put up with buying items that are discontinued in the US (so we buy them outdated).  Also we get the added benefit (adding insult to injury) of a 15% value added tax.

So, yes some people have no other choice then to buy the cast off items from the states.

    That is unfortunate...

We currently don't offer direct downloads of older versions of our apps because we don't support those older versions, and offering direct downloads might imply (to someone) that we actually do support them.
