Search help...feel dumb asking this

I need help searching for something and I honestly don't know how to narrow my massive library down. I know I don't utilize my software and resources well. I'm looking for a listing of prophecies related to Jesus - birth, life, death, etc...I can find "prophecy" in dictionaries or other things - but finding a listing of those things I'm at a loss. How would I conduct a search like this? Thanks for your help.

I have found the best resources for this kind of list are Bible Handbooks. I would suggest a search such as "Messianic Prophecies" with quotes or "Old Testament Prophecies". If you do not have a collection that would include handbooks, the two that I know has what you are looking for are the Holman Book of Biblical Charts, Maps... and Willmington's Bible Handbook. Hope this gets you what you are seeking.

Here's a quick and easy resource from Rose Publishing: 100 Prophecies Fulfilled by Jesus
It's available from Vryso, books that function well within Logos.

John and Ted pointed you to resources that will help with your immediate problem. I'd like to add that you can use the NEAR operator as a means of narrowing down your "massive library."
For example, you could try a search like: jesus NEAR fulfilled NEAR prophecy or even jesus NEAR fulfilled NEAR prophecy NEAR birth. The NEAR operator searches for words within 48 characters of one another.
You can find more information about how to search here: https://wiki.logos.com/Detailed_Search_Help
Hope this helps with future searches.

Chad, don't feel dumb about not knowing how to use Logos. Ask away. Only about three people in the world really know how to use this thing well. The rest of us are duffers.
I've answered a lot of questions on the forums, taken Mo Proctor's course, taken a Udemy course online, and I still regularly have to get on the forums and ask how to do stuff. Sometimes it is stuff I've never done before, sometimes stuff I did and forgot how. But until Faithlife can get more training online, we are all stuck in the same rut.
So there's no need to feel dumb.

Thanks everyone. There is so much to utilize in Logos and I wish I had the time to study how to use it. I know it would help. Logos 6 isn't even that appealing because I don't know how to use 5 yet. I probably need to watch the search tutorial about 10 times so I can have a chance of using it well. Thanks again...with this I was able to find what I needed at this point.

Ha, Chad I'm with you Brother! I felt like I wasn't qualified to get Logos 6 since there was so much I didn't know about L5 yet. But, I got it as a Christmas present and am really enjoying it. However, I still feel like a kid with a brand new car and all I know how to do is turn on the lights. Fortunately, I'm happy turning on the lights until I can actually get this thing moving! lol So, your not alone! Good luck and ask any questions that you may need help with!

Hi Chad
One other option - available in Logos 6 (depending on what package you have) - is to search for the Cultural Concept of "Prophetic fulfillment"
The screenshot below shows a search for this in the New Testament - with the second half of the shot showing that search filtered by "<Person Jesus>"
The first one shows all passages that are tagged as fulfilling a prophecy, the second shows where Jesus is tagged within those passages.
The second misses some (probably understandably when you look at the tagging) which you would probably want included but together they could provide a good basis for further study

Incidentally, to work out what to search from you can run a Passage Guide on a verse which you know has a quotation, open the "Cultural Concepts" section and then run a search to generate the syntax
The example below uses Matthew 2:6
Running the search does a Basic Search
But you can switch from there to a Bible search

One of the best ways to narrow searches is by making collections. You can then search just the collection. You can make any kind of collection from your resources, such as Bible Dictionaries, Books Related to Prophecy, favorite writers, etc.
You will find the tool for Collections under Tools.

Another fine resource is Jesus the Messiah: Tracing the Promises, Expectations, and Coming of Israel's King. Right now, because of the March Madness promotion, its on sale at a great price.
That resource is very explanatory, while the Rose 100 Fulfilled Prophecies is "just the facts" list of O.T. prophecies with N.T. fulfillment references.

One idea is filtering Library for:
messianic prophecy
to find any resources that have these words in title, description, subject, ... (filtering library is also useful for collections)
Filtering found Messianic Christology in my library

Thanks Ted and everyone else, my wife had asked me yesterday how to get the information from Logos is over the moon with this and the other suggestions. The best Logos search engine is the forums!

For a useful list I have just found Edersheim: Life and Times Appendix 9 . It is a fairly comprehensive list of biblical Prophecies from Rabbinic sources which is still apparently regarded as one of the most compete Rabbinic lists around.
