Building Unreadable Personal Book in Mac

Somehow, a personal book is coming out virtually unreadable in the Mac. It looks fine in Pages, in Open Office, but it is virtually unreadable when built as a personal book. Do I need to use a different font? font size? I am using Times New Roman and Arial.

Are you able to save as .docx format in Pages? That is the format Logos needs to successfully build a personal book. Personal Books built ins MS Word compile correctly on the Mac.

Do you mean that THIS document has worked in the past, or that OTHER documents have worked? If the later, the scary thing you could try is to rebuild a document to see if it ends up changing. The tricky thing about personal books is that there are any number of hidden formatting things that can change the end product. Is there anything different about this .docx file? Did you create it from scratch? Paste in from another source? Convert from another format?

Yes. This is a board policy manual. I keep it in Logos as it makes searching simple. We voted a very small change in one policy. I made the change and now can't read the results. If I open it in Open Office or Pages it looks fine. It is essentially without spaces between words in Logos. Maybe I need to get used to ancient Hebrew, take out all the vowels, and without spaces it is like Hebrew writing!

Sounds like an update in Pages or Open Office broke it.

Note that Times New Romans 12 pt is the formatting that Logos will take as a default and thus replace with whatever is your default in Logos for all resource displays, whereas other fonts and sizes will stay as they are.

If I were you I'd save the document in Open Office as RTF format (maybe labelled as "Office 1995" or such - this helps killing spurious content in the zipped XML format that basically behind docx format). Close the software. Then I'd open the document in Open Office and save as doxc format.

Solved the problem with LibreOffice which plays nice with .docx. OpenOffice does not. In the past I have used Pages, then save to .docx. However, Pages was introducing an error in spacing (I don't know why, it is not showing any such modifications in the text formating boxes). Using LibreOffice, I was able to change the spacing and save in .docx. Works perfectly once again. Open Office is going in the trash.
