Curious what Logos resources you feel are worth purchasing that are easy and thorough in terms of refuting those who believe the Bible is full of discrepancies or contradictions...

Anyone own this above in their collection and find it useful or a go-to frequently for them, for example?

Thanks for your suggestions. I also have purchased a few on my own through the years in and outside Logos (including some Ken Hamm books of late).

I appreciate this post is subjective but any Logos links and brief "I go to this book in Logos often and use it in ministry when people ask me" type replies would be a blessing and much appreciated. What books have you found readable, memorable, you return to, not outdated, and accessible for all readers (the laymen/woman for example).

I saw one by James Kennedy on Amazon too...anyone recommend his books for a primer on this topic please?

Thankful for Josh McDowell's testimony and intensive evidence studies => Evidence for Christianity (Logos lacks "Evidence that demands a Verdict") so was somewhat surprised by answer that agrees with most scholars and many popular traditions while lacking alternative explanation since "three days and three nights" could literally be two complete days for two Sabbaths (48 Holy hours) plus smallish part of Thursday afternoon (1st day) and unknown night time (3rd night) before stone rolled away on Sunday to reveal body is no longer in the tomb.

Observation: plural usage of lemma σάββατον is typically translated into English as singular Sabbath.

Thankful for a library with many resources so can search different points of view (plus the resources are not living people in the same room who disagree, sometimes vehemently).

Whilst it is good to have access to resources to help I highly recommend taking time to look at the passages for yourself and start to build your own perspective before spending too much in other peoples ideas. Also, get a good resource on culture, background and context like:

La Sor, William Sanford, David Allan Hubbard, and Frederic William Bush. Old Testament Survey: The Message, Form, and Background of the Old Testament. 2nd ed. Grand Rapids, MI: William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1996.

Solving the issues for yourself, with some help, will equip you much better than simply reading what someone else has worked out.

Dear JoshlnRI,

I think the problem is, is that you are seeking one type of medium to find a solution to this problem. First of all, praying to the Holy Spirit to lead you into ALL Truth (John 16:13), will help you. You also do not have to spend the money you are spending to help you FIND the Truth. After your prayers, there are numerous online resources that will help you. Now you must have patience in finding your answers. If you truly believe that God will help you find them, then you WILL.

After your prayers, "Google" those passages you have trouble understanding. As you are doing your RESEARCH, look for at least five COMMENTARIES pertaining to your subject matter. Remember, in doing the research, you are looking for consistency within the commentaries. If you find some things that seem unusual or radical, that is definitely NOT what you are looking for.

Here are some resources. They are from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, of which I am a member. Now, people who don't know us, say such not nice things about us. We are NOT a cult, we haven't published our own Bible, we study from the same ones that you do, and you will be pleasantly surprised at our totally free resources, because we realize that Jesus never charged one thin dime for anything He taught to His disciples. These will help you properly learn the Bible. Try them, you might like them.

Personally prefer Logos or Verbum search before using an internet search engine. For example, found 31 resources in Textual Criticism collection that discuss Mark 16:9-20 (short ending)

I have found Matthew Poole's commentary extremely helpful. It, probably about 90% of the time, answers any question on the text that I just can't figure out. It is by far my favorite commentary In Logos.
