You will probably encounter mostly (false) traditional views regarding John. The real John the apostle died in Jerusalem before 70 AD. See Charles A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Revelation of St John, V 1, p xlviii regarding the Syriac Martyrology and Mk 10.35-40.
