Hi,

on both my PC and Android phone the front page contains news items which are updated regularly and are usually very interesting and often give links to resources that you may wish to purchase.

However, on the iPad, for some reason, this does not seem to be supported. I think this is a shame. I am often away from my desk and use my iPad for study more often than the PC. To check for news stories I have to open the Logos app on my Android phone.

Any chance of an upgrade to the app?

Tony Dowden.

There is a setting for News as below. Do you have this selected?

However I expect the restrictions mentioned at https://community.logos.com/forums/p/48558/360061.aspx#360061 still  apply

Apple policies prevent advertising without a cut to apple. Because of this, the "news" section will be different on iOS than Android.

    Hi Alabama24?

Thanks for that info, it totally explains the odd situation of it working on a
    Android but not on iPad.

...actually, you have so much to thank them FOR. Their closed environment prevents your device from the viruses and data theft more common on Android.

    Hi Alabama24,

OK, I see what you are saying. However, I'm fussy about what apps I will download and have so far never had any problems with my Android phone or my wife's Android tablet.

Most of the games that my friends have include advertising in them for the game producers own products. It doesn't seem right that Logos should have to pay extra for advertising their own products within their own app. I can't see that makes the platform any more secure. On the other hand, if it is a small amount perhaps Logos need to let the moths out of their wallet. It is a shame not to have this feature on what is one of the most popular tablets.

Anyway, no more grumbling. I am delighted with Logos, which I purchased at the beginning of this year!

For clarification: Logos doesn't have to pay for advertising, but they can't break the rules and sometimes it is simpler to not do something than to be in jeopardy of a violation.

    The issue is this:

Apple created the platform and maintains the app store. The app developers gain the advantage of the platform for basically free. If developers choose to sell products that compete with Apple (books, music, movies, etc.), then they must pay Apple a 15% cut. Sounds fair to me. This is why, for example, you can't buy Kindle books "in app" on iOS devices.

FL does sell <some> resources "in app," but not many. They have a small collection they are willing to sell to help build the platform and turn "free users" into "paid users." The goal, likely, is to get them into the platform and to buy more.
