Question About Vyrso iOS App Size

I've noticed in my iCloud backups my Vyrso app size is large, over 400+ MB. On one of my iOS devices, I did download a few books for offline use, but on the other iOS device, I don't have any offline books downloaded. What would be causing the Vyrso app size to be this large? Just wondering what's going on.

Thanks!

What version of Vyrso are you running and do both devices use the same iCloud account?

5.2.2 on both. Both are linked to the same iCloud and Faithlife accounts.

    Thanks!

Downloaded resources can take up quite a bit of space. For example, the Vyrso app is 92.4 MB on my device and I have three downloaded resources that take 83.3 MB (Documents & Data): the ESV, the KJV and the LEB. So, just the app plus three Bibles is 176MB.

Depending on which resources you've downloaded (some of which go into multiple gigabytes) this seems pretty normal.

Do downloaded resources sync between iOS devices if both are signed in with the same iCloud/Faithlife ID's? What's interesting is both the iPhone and iPad are showing the hefty app file sizes even though I only chose to download the resources on the iPad.

Faithlife resources downloaded to one device do not download to other devices, either on Android or iOS. Each device has a unique device ID which enables mobile resource management to work.

The iCloud Storage values should be the same since both of your devices are using the same iCloud account. Apple is simply telling you how much space is being used on your iCloud account irrespective of the device you are using to view those values.

The (local) Storage section on each of your devices should reflect that Vyrso is smaller on the device that you haven't downloaded resources to. Please let us know if that isn't the case.

It "kind of" isn't. I'm attaching a screenshot of both my iPhone and iPad iCloud Backup screens showing the Vyrso app. The iPad one is now showing over 1GB which I understand because I have downloaded some resources to it. The iPhone is showing over 400MB and I haven't downloaded any resources to it. The iPad was also showing over 400MB recently and just recently increased to over 1GB.

Verse app backup size on my iPhone has swelled to 587MB with NO downloaded books. What is going on?

Do you have lots of notes/clippings?

I have a "decent amount", but I haven't added any during the time frame this app size swelled.

It may be that new "free to use" books have been added.

Out of curiosity, however, why do you even have them in iCloud backup? I don't (and wouldn't).

I probably just need to exclude it from iCloud Backup. I have everything set to iCloud Backup by default and haven't excluded anything. I thought Vyrso just backed up a few app settings to iCloud Backup, but it seems it does way more than that. :-)

    Thanks!

...but all of that is synced to the Logos servers anyway.

True. I went ahead and turned off iCloud Backups to all my Faithlife related apps on my iPad. I will be doing the same on my iPhone soon. I may be switching iPhones, so I'll just wait and do it after I start a new backup on that phone and toss my old iCloud Backup (once I successfully restore it to my new iPhone).

    Thanks!

so I'll just wait and do it after I start a new backup on that phone

Personally, I think it would be better to have a fresh install. Many glitches occur with old installations, and restoring from an iCloud backup is asking for trouble, imo.

Generally I do, and I may consder it on this one, but I did recently do a clean install on this other iPhone (now having a hardware issue), so my OS configuration has been generally stable.
