The one I chose reflects the wonder of God's word.
The other choice sounds like I'm working to make it say what I want it to say.
Thanks, Dan. See my signature line.
Read, Research, Rediscover
I do not connect with either one as the brand proposition of Logos...(or Verbum either).
I see the software as Unleashing God's Word or Revealing God's Word or Unlocking the Word of God. This is what I receive not just the simple human activities that I can do with Logos.
IMHO,
Steve
I'm afraid I didn't like either of them. They sound too clinical - they could apply to non-biblical software, and it doesn't capture the special power of preaching God's Word.
"Preparation to Proclamation" would be much better IMO.
Neither one in my opinion is good for Logos.
The 1st one gave me a thought of a delivery company.
The 2nd one could possibly be used for Proclaim, but it is too generic.
I would think that a phrase more Biblical or Theological would be best.
I don't have any alternate suggestions at this time.
I agree with some of the assessments already given (namely, they could be applied to almost anything or they sound too clinical; even in the context of Bible software, they make the product seem like its usefulness is limited to those who preach), and I don't like either. I don't have alternates.
"Delivering Discovery" would work better than the two options given, and works on more than one level.
I voted for neither because I don't connect with them in the least. I use the software to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ. I am not in ministry and so do not use the software for what you are trying to convey with this stuff
These phrases sound more like you are selling me some sort of project or event management software.
I hope this sort of phrase is only going to be used contextually when you are reaching out directly to those in ministry, if it is to be a general catch phrase for the software you are going to be disengaging with your users and potential users who use the software for personal use and not directly for ministry purposes.
Instead of worrying about marketing slogans this company needs to get back to grass roots, it needs to get back to what engaged us as customers with it in the first place, it needs to get back to customer service that is second to none.
Neither
Neither one really works for me. Both seem to be solely targeted at pulpit ministers. Neither speaks to what I believe to be the point of it all, which is understanding the Word. From that flows living out the Word and communicating the Word - but the Word always comes first. I've always thought that was what was most powerful about the names Logos and Verbum - they both implicitly point back to the Word of God.
Both are . . . Yawn . . . Boring
Neither resonates with me.
It sounds like the product of a committee. ⇓
Unleashing God's Word or Revealing God's Word
Would like either.... but I am not impressed with the options we had been given.
-Dan
I didn't read the whole thread until I voted. I was expecting more choices and was a bit disappointed with both of the options.
Neither one sounds good to me.
zero to hero?
jk
First one, discovery to delivery.
Why?
a. Discovery to Delivery (sounds for non-pros, and has preparation in between)
b. Preparation to Presentation (sounds for pros, not much of new discovery in beginning)
Context to Connection
Discourse to Discipleship
Incubation to Illumination
Insight to Imitation
LOL = Learn Original Languages
LOL = Lifetime of Learning
LOL = Lots of Learning [:P] (have learned a lot plus have a lot to learn)
Wallet Warning [:'(] (adding resources to digital library can be helpful & insightful, but cost a bit)
Keep Smiling [:)]

I like that "Lifetime of Learning."
I'm not interesting in present my Work at all...Logos Bible Software for me is to come closer to Jesus and learn how to understand his Word.
Fully concur.
Interesting (as usual) ... the preferred phrase vs the the user's use. People want a match.
Then, I'd assume the phrase's positioning ... a booth with signing at a conference, where it has to catch a glance. A web page banner, or just general product imaging.
Given the multiple markets, I wonder about a single choice. Research, devotional, teaching, Proclaim-sister, sermon prep, encouraging your children, etc.
Sorry.
I have "Go online and rate this" overload. Everybody/anybody from the Safeway checkout person to the waitress who serves my breakfast to nearly everything I buy wants me to go online and "take this short survey".
I do not.
I voted for "preparation to presentation" which isn't really accurate.
* I don't think of Logos a a source of discovery--although discovery inevitably occurs there. But now that I am typing, I am changing my mind and thinking that Logos is responsible for a LOT of discovery.
* I don't use Logos for delivery or presentation.
* I use Logos for preparation, for covering my bases quickly and thoroughly before preparing my own presentation/delivery.
*Conclusion: The best phrase for me (but probably not everyone else) would be "Preparation and Discovery." I put preparation first because I discover as I prepare, not the other way around, or at least not intentionally.
*Final Conclusion: Mostly I use Logos just to read and study on my own. Like my leather Bible, I don't really "use" it so much as experience it, or meditate on it or feast on it or let it speak to my heart. A real leather Bible I sometimes just hold--which I can't really do with Logos, although my laptop computer is warm on cold winter mornings.

So I'm not the only person to notice this. They even have a number printed on the back of your grocery receipt to call to take a survey. I think I'm not going to take another survey any time soon.
I picked one, but I don't like it, either.
Neither!
Late answer:
Neither piques interest to me,
Benefit communication depends on audience.
To me Logos benefits logo would be:
Explore.... Reflect.... Experience...
Related to: Von Hugel's "history, intellect, experience" anyone?
neither one does all that much for me.
It did not back then, and does even less for me know if that's possible as FL has gone off on a tangent chasing the whole church budget and has dropped the ball on it's core product focussing more on pastor's and less on all students of the Word and on producing high quality resources to support the core product.
The thread has been dormant for 5 years ... I doubt it matters much now.
