This is really close to reaching 100%. I'd like to see this move into production.

(I know it's cheaper elsewhere, but I just like my books in one place.)
I love Sherlock Holmes. I have read all of Sherlock Holmes. I have all of the Doyle Sherlock Holmes in ebook, audio book, and paper book formats.
But explain this to me.. What advantage would this be to simply taking the public domain ebooks - some of which have beautiful pictures - and making free personal books out of them?
I do see the point of having Sherlock Holmes in one's library for some great illustrations of human nature and even a little theology. For example:
There is a scene in the Sherlock Holmes story “The Adventure of the Naval Treaty” in which Sherlock Holmes deduces the goodness of God from the study of a flower. Dr. Watson is surprised to find Sherlock carefully studying a flower. Sherlock Holmes explains, “There is nothing in which deduction is so necessary as in religion. It can be built up as an exact science by the reasoner. Our highest assurance of the goodness of Providence seems to me to rest in the flowers. All other things, our powers our desires, our food, are all really necessary for our existence in the first instance. But this rose is an extra. Its smell and its color are an embellishment of life, not a condition of it. It is only goodness which gives extras, and so I say again that we have much to hope from the flowers.”
I'm in for a $20 bid.
I am also in at $20. $28 is too high for this. There is no value add for having it in Logos.
I agree that $28 is probably too high. However, that is what my bid is at because I don't want to accidentally miss out.
For me, the value of Logos producing this over a personal book comes down to the time it would take for me to make the personal books (converting to docx, formatting etc).
It's stuck at $28 because too many users don't "want to miss out". We have to blame ourselves for the high price. Lower your bids, and it will become cheaper - and not evennecessarily take longer, because more users will definitely jump in.
I think I agree with this thinking about this resource. It doesn't always work to have more people lower their bids but, in this case, I think people see the higher bid and say "that's a bit too much for this" and don't bother bidding. We just need more bidders and a lower price of $20 I think might accomplish that.
I bid $30 on this last year, but will lower it to $20 to help get it cheaper. I encourage others to do the same.
I just changed mine to a $20 bid.
I just lowered mine to $20 as well.
What advantage would this be to simply taking the public domain ebooks - some of which have beautiful pictures - and making free personal books out of them?
I don't know either. I am in at $12, and would <probably> keep it at that price. This <could> go lower still, but it would take patience on the part of users.
To be honest I really don't care what it costs for I am a fan of Holmes. I have all the stories in print. But lowered my bid to $20 because someone mentioned in above.
ah well, will raise my $12 to $20!
Why? Your bid should (generally) always be "the most you would be willing to pay" for the resource. If you are willing to pay $20, you should have bid $20, or be in jeopardy of losing out on it. I am not willing to pay $20. Since these are to be had free, I am willing to pay about $1.50 per volume.
EDIT: Actually, I just realized that "send to kindle" disappeared. I don't know if I am in at $12.
Here is the current curve. Notice that $12 has about 70% support. That ain't shabby. If there was a stronger push for that price point, it might be achievable.
I know this is commented on frequently, but for those newer to the forums... Changing your bid from a higher price point to a lower one doesn't do anything for the lower price point since a bid for a higher price point is simultaneously a bid for EVERY lower price point. What is needed in this case is NEW bidders at the price point you desire. For those who want is ASAP, the answer is $28, since fewer bidders would be needed at that price point. In my case, I would want to see more brand new bidders at $12, and no more new bidders at higher price points which would cause the bidding to end there.
ah well, will raise my $12 to $20! Why?
Why?
Normally I would agree fully with your logic alabama24.However, when I first saw it I was not sure what I thought it was worth to me (because, like you, I already have them for free or maybe a couple of pounds) . I put a $12 in because I could certainly accept that and although I doubted if it would ever go for that it would keep me notified what was happening and if it broke through I could have another look and decide if I was prepared or not to go higher. I have decided that it is worth $20 to me but probably no more. Sorry to sound so convoluted.
I have decided that it is worth $20 to me
Then you did right! [:)]
In addition to they look after file management on their servers. But at $28 It does become very attractive to build your own personal books. Cost needs to come down to make this offer worthwhile so I'm droppi my bid also
i wonder though if $20 is low enough to really generate the extra interest.
I think so, but we will just have to wait and see.
I hope so.
Looks like the bidding strategy worked. It's finally made it over the line, and immediately dropped to $24.
We still can get it to $20!!

Looks like it will not take many more bids to drive it down to 20 (or below) [:D]
It is down to $18 now,and apparently greater than 90% of the way to $16.
Now at 18
If there was a $17 option it would be pretty close to that.
Sherlock Holmes is certainly a bargain at this price. To make these volumes Personal Books from public domain sources, as we say down here, "is too much sugar for a nickle". When one considers the time involved, the editing and formatting involved, and the quality of the work, one would be crazy to not buy Logos' version at this price.
Plus, personal books aren't available on mobile devices, but these will be.
$16.00 is so close but $18.00 will be very nice as well.
I'm in at $18 and wouldn't complain if it stayed that way. I've only seen the movies so I'm looking forward to actually reading this -- Yeah, I know, where have I've been all this time? Just roaming about on the earth 🌏 and walking around on it hehehe
DAL
Great and if we can get more bids then maybe $14 will work.
Here's the link for this page. Only a few minutes left to get in on this bid.
You managed to save 39% compared to its earlier $26 bid.
I'm impressed at how a concerted effort can drive down the price of very popular fiction. However biblical resources can die a slow death in CP and never get published.
I wish we could harness the power of this community to generally push more CP products into production at lower costs.
We've done that many times already. Remember the Judges MobileEd course?
We've done that many times already.
[Y] I've been a happy recipient of a number of these collaborations.
I didn't bid on this collection. One of the first few purchases I made when I got my first Kindle years ago was the ESV Study Bible and an ebook collection of these 8 volumes (which also includes The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes). The collection is very nicely formatted, I got it super-cheap ($2.99), and I'm able to highlight and transfer any and all profound insights I stumble upon. If, for some reason, I feel the need to have it in Logos, I can easily convert it to a .docx file using Calibre.

Sadly, before my time here. Only been on the forum for 2-1/2 months.
I was unaware that Sherlock Holmes or Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle were born again Christians. [:P]
I was unaware that Sherlock Holmes or Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle were born again Christians.
I have read most if not all Sherlock Holmes and never did I see Holmes put his faith in Christ. I get the sarcasm though.
Doyle was a spiritualist, but that's no reason to discard his writings.
(Suggestion to FL: Get the Professor Challenger series into CP please!)
I think his books make excellent entertainment. I have the Grenada series from BBC/PBS on dvd and enjoy it from time to time.
I find the inclusion of Sherlock Holmes within Logos a chuckle...enough said (by me anyway).[:)]
Doyle's first Sherlock Holmes stories (Study in Scarlet) is about Mormons, and so this qualifies as a religious collection
Its accuracy and tone leave somewhat to be desired (Doyle later apologized), although you can still find such things in certain exposés.

I am sure someone in Logos-ville imagines that such a collection is "elementary". The character, though brilliant, was a drug user and in desperate need of salvation in my opinion. I also think the collection is far too expensive in Logos and fail to see its real relevance.
(Gasp...I went there...but I just wasn't sure anyone would deduce part of what I intended in my emails as I did not really relay enough clues).
I think this would have been a far better book for Logos and something well...a little more deserved.

I do not think Robert Downey Jr or Benedict Cumberbatch will be opening The Holy Bible in any of their future portrayals either [:P]
This looks interesting; thanks for posting the link.
Your welcome Yasmin. I may be a goofball and add humor to my befuddlement (some would incorrectly deduce blatant criticism of Logos Development and they would be wrong, of course) but I try to hopefully add something of merit in such a reply as well. I hope to get to my free amazon kindle copy of all of Sherlock Holmes in the interim. I imagine I wont require the use of a magnifying glass or Logos to find much about the Bible in it either. As always I am not endorsing the book as a worthwhile read. Perhaps one day after YOU read it, you can tell us how it is or suggest to Logos to add it to their Sherlock collection.
...and now madam, I must be off.
The game is afoot (or in my case, my real studies await me).
@FL: With the last bunch of Sherlock Holmes short stories having just entered PD, can we get another CP please? [:D]
Wow I have the collection and can’t remember how I got it 😏 I’ll try to find the audiobook for it.
