I Pad Pro 12.9"
I am thinking of buying a I Pad Pro. How much memory do you recommend? 128/256?

Mel, if you follow Logos recommendations (download resources you need, not your whole library), and if the Logos app were your only app, you'd be lucky to hit a gbyte.
Therefore, what else? I run Accordance also ... that's 4g. My maps, another 10g, Kindle books, maybe a gbyte. Art, 3g. Pictures/videos ... hmmmm.
Hopefully you get the point ... depends on what else you have. Logos isn't a big footprint unless you go crazy. And even then.

For clarification: The iPad Pro (as with all iOS devices) runs the mobile app (rather than the desktop app). You can download books, but it isn't recommended that you download your entire library. Many features run "in the cloud" and not offline. As such, the amount of memory is largely irrelevant for Logos purposes.

The caveat about downloading all your resources is that it takes time to do it and uses up your storage space. I've kept about 4000 resources (about 40 GB) on my device and never had a problem. I currently have the iPad Pro 128 GB model, so I have plenty of space available.

Mel,
I just bought one. The 128 GB should be fine for Logos. Its video, music, and media that will take up your space. Will you be putting much of that on your device?
Also, consult this website for prices: http://prices.appleinsider.com/#ipad
I just bought my iPad Pro from B&H and paid $866 for my wifi only 128 GB model, when buying it from Apple would have cost me $1,027. It had free shipping, plus if you live in any state but New York, you don't have to pay sales tax on it either. So that'll save you even more. This is for a brand new iPad too.
Hope this helps.

I see nothing on the iPad app support page that describes potential problems (other than download time and space considerations) if the user downloads thousands of resources. Maybe I missed it. Or maybe, if there is a real concern, Logos should highlight it on the support page. Like I said, I've always had thousands of resources on my iPads over the years and never had a problem.

In landscape mode, I feel like reading a real book.

You can choose to ignore my warnings to your heart's content, but I spend hundreds of hours in the forums and can tell you the issues are real. I am not saying that every user will have an issue. I am saying that the issues happen frequently enough, and the headaches are big enough to make heeding my advice a wise choice. FWIW - FL employees have validated my advice on this issue many times in the forums.

Logos is not well known for informing customers of anything. I too went pretty long without Logos app issues, watching others 'please try re-installing' when any hiccup occurred.
Until the day it happened. That's when I decided 'done' ... Logos' easy-going habits of sloppiness are not my cup of tea.
Now, I've yet to have an issue with Kindle, Accordance, or Olivetree. Laridian wanted a re-install for a new resource format ... I re-installed and now I have the free KJV as my library. I'm not downloading again.

I do not have everything downloaded... I do however have over 1200 items downloaded.... 3 times in several years of using it i have had to redownload everything... once because there was some sort of hiccup in the system that deleted everything of the iPad due to lack of Faithlife server response (this has since been corrected) another time was a very similar incident a few months later but was a separate issue. Before that I had an incident were there was corruption of some type where I did need to remove and redownload everything. In general I have few issues with a large number of resources downloaded. That said one can easily compare it in someways to a house of cards one thing going bad can result in downloading everything again. Please go ahead and do it but understand the time may happen when you need to completely reinstall everything.

Dan, How is the iPad Pro 9.7 working out? Care to give us an update?

My 9.7 is fabulous.. Everything runs smoothly and do not regret getting it for a second. When i first had it weird restarts were happening a few times a week... but this glitch seems to have been solved by the latest iOS although this glitch was more like a screen saver in that restart was almost instantaneous. The speakers on it have great sound. I hope this iPad will server me as long or longer than the first one i owned a gen 3.... Which I gave to my mother in law and she is quite happy with it.

Yes, I remember when that system glitch occurred. Like everyone, I had to reinstall. But the problem had nothing to do with the number of resources downloaded. Correct? Even if I had downloaded only 10 resources, I still would've had to reinstall them.
That is very true just more of a pain for those of us who had many to do...

Does everyone know that you can manage your downloads within the Logos desktop app?

That's really nice, Dan. A very nice case as well. I'm still thinking about upgrading my older iPad. Haven't decided on the size.

No. The desktop runs the full desktop version of Logos. iOS devices run the mobile version of Logos. They are different.

Functionality of the iOS version of Logos is the same on all iOS devices.

For me it was a no brainer. I did look at the 12.9 which was roughly the same weight as my iPad 3rd Gen... but for me it felt less portable. I have a small bag that my iPad first into along with my wallet and various other things medication (my migraines and IBS (really mostly under control with diet) means i always want them handy) as well as tape measure multitool glasses cleaning stuff... yes I am one of those everything but the kitchen sink types. But after going to a best buy and opening the same PDF up on all screens I found it readable on all three sizes (although felt small on the mini) so i decided the original size was best for me. As for the case it was one of cheaper ones I could on eBay with a cross added to it......

Dan,
Have you had a chance to work with a couple of apps in split screen? I'm interested in your thoughts there with the 9.7 screen.

Will Apples productivity Apps (Notes, etc.)work in split screen on the Pro (IOS 9.3)?

The IOS Logos app is virtually the same whether you use it on an iphone, ipad, or ipad pro. With that said, you should REALLY investigate remote desktop on the 12.9. It's jawdropping.
You can just remote into your desktop and run the full version of Logos on your iPad Pro 12.9. It will work with even a 9.7 or iPhone but your screen will be much smaller.

I have have no problems with split screen as you see although not every application is SC capable.

What app do you use to do that?

Thats Verbum on left and Accordance on the right... you can download the iOS free... one advantage of this for me in particular is that i need no internet connection to look up original language on Accordance. the iOS download comes with the ESV tagged to strongs.

I used to use remote desktop (just the MS app) but having to keep 3389 or whatever that port is open all the time is fairly insecure. So I bought a subscription to Parallels Access. It's a really cool program. http://www.parallels.com/products/access/

Thank you, Dan and Matt. Let me do some investigation. I had not thought about a remote desktop connection from my iPad before.

Wow Dan, the split screen is really nice! Are you able to split the screen with 2 logos apps? Maybe Logos/Verbum or Noet? Also really like your case and background pic! Did the case come with the pictures or did you add them to it somehow? Any chance you could tell us where you found them?
I have an older iPad that can't do the split screen feature, but seeing this might give me something to save up for!
