Is it possible to sync my reading spots and locations to my PC so that don't have to keep moving around?

Thanks,

Sean

Hi Sean - and welcome to the forums

Not sure what you mean by "reading spots" but if you are reading something on your desktop and then open the same resource on your iPad it should open to the same place.

If you have both resources open at the same time they don't sync in this way

that's what I mean.  So I read something at work on lunch break.  Then I want to go home and finish it up.  I'd like to know if it has the ability to know (smart sync) to where I left off reading.

Kinda how kindle does it between different devices.

As I say it should do so long as the resource wasn't open on the other machine when reading at lunchtime.

(And there have been requests for the way this works to change but it is how it works at the moment)

Is this not working for you?

I haven't tried.  I'm really green now with the app.  The idea is to get my ipad setup the way I want it for church and then arrange my PC accordingly.

I'll be using my ipad for a bulk of the program.  I may have a lot of setup and how to questions:  Is there a better location i can find this info or is it okay to post here?

First, it is always ok to ask! That is what the forums are for. [:)]

To clarify slightly on Graham's comments...

The desktop apps can do exactly what you want. You can set two (or more) computers to open to a set layout. Any resources in that layout (should) be open to the same place you left off on the other computer.

Mobile, however, is tricky. If you have book X open on mobile, FL assumes that you want to return to the same resource and location when you open the app back up. This behavior is useful and needed in many situations. However, many of us don't use the app that way and we would like resources to always sync! I have suggested many times that FL should add "projects" to the software for both desktop and mobile. In this way, users could get the kind of sync they need for all situations. If a user wants the mobile device to always open to the same spot... always... they could have a special "project" for that device which always opens when the app opens. For other users, they could have a "project" for every situation they encounter. Consider the full time pastor who is also taking 3 seminary courses: He may want a project for each course, One for Sunday Morning prep, One for Small Group prep, and another for the wedding coming up! On mobile, opening up a project would change resource locations for all resources. The library sort of "recent" would sort based on resources used for that project. Alas, no <visible> movement for at least three years. [:(]
