Does anyone have or know of a resource that discusses deathbed repentance/confession "for" and "against"? Surprisingly enough, google doesn't yield that many results and my library is not finished with the indexing process, so no searches available. Thanks in advance if y'all are able to help.

Sorry I don't understand the question - for or against what? Aren't deathbed confessions simply events that happen or don't happen depending on the individual and the circumstances?

Thanks! I searched through the mobile app and found a sermon on the dangers of deathbed repentance and a quote by JC Ryle. I also got other results, so lots of reading to do. Sensitive subject, but someone asked so I want to give her a fair and balanced response, so she won't feel I'm just giving her my take on it.

MJ, for or against, in the sense some believe that's enough to be saved and make it to heaven and others say is not enough and someone will not be saved and be in heaven. Am I making sense? Maybe a specific resource that tackles the subject.

Luke 23:43 pretty much affirms the sufficiency of repentance. We can't bring anything more than our complete failure to equation.

Thank you - now I understand the question. Trying various searches which bring up a few results but each not actually relevant, I believe I can state I have absolutely nothing on the subject in my library.

Thanks, MJ and the others! I finished my indexing and found other articles, some for and some against it.  Also I had to look for a couple of "dead tree" books to find other interesting expositions on the subject (e.g. The Eleventh's Hour, The Thief on the Cross, etc.).  This should be enough, but if anyone finds something else, feel free to share.

Thanks Keep Smiling For Jesus, I've gotten those results too along with other sermons, brief articles and quotes on the subject.  So far, the thief on the cross or the 11th hour are not so comforting for those who all of the sudden wanted to "accept Jesus" because they were afraid of dying.  But I'll keep researching the topic over the weekend.  I have 'til next Wednesday to prepare, so will be busy organizing thoughts on both views (i.e. death bed repentance saves vs death bed repentance doesn't save).

    Blessings!
