Question on Columns Viewed on iPad
Hopefully I can describe my question clearly ... I've been without an iPad for a few years and have one now again ...
Is there a way I can control the number of columns I see on the screen when I am reading? It seems by default I see 2 columns in both landscape and portrait orientation. I would like to see only one column in portrait.
I've tapped around looking for a setting but I am not smart enough to find it.
Help, please.

I'm not seeing the Aa icon, Graham. I'm only seeing the horizontal lines in the upper left had corner. I must be missing something.

If you simply tap the resource the other icons should appear

Yikes! That's it! When I first open the resource no top menu is displayed ... once I tapped to change pages, it appeared. Wonder why it's hidden at first. Oh well.
Thank you for that. [:)]

I think it is just a preference but both views are important for different things. Personally I'd like the default the other way as well.

This is very interesting ... obviously I've been absent from the iPad for a while ...
On opening a resource there is no top menu. If I swipe from right to left without tapping no top menu appears. I can go on from page to page without a top menu.
If I tap the page, the menu appears ... then, if I swipe from there the top menu stays in place .. page to page. Tapping again causes the top menu to disappear and the other behavior is in place.
There is no difference in the number of lines of text that appear ... only the difference between the title of the resource being displayed and the top menu (which has the "I" icon which gives you the title of the resource).
What's the advantage/disadvantage?

I think the main reason for the different behaviour with alternating tapping is simply to allow for more information to be easily displayed. If it was all put on one page it would occupy too much space.
