Scan not scanning??
I haven't used the can command before and am seeming to have no good fortune with it today.
I downloaded some updated journals into c:\temp
I typed the following into the command bar and hit Enter.
Nothing is happening.
So what am I not doing correctly?
BTW: I am running 4.0a.

OK. I closed L4 and reopened it, and after 'preparing my library' my resources have been transferred to my Resources folder (they weren't there before I closed L4). Is this how scan is supposed to work? That is, does it require a close and reopen to accomplish its work? If so, I think that information should be added to the Wiki article on Logos commands.

Yes, rather disconcertingly, all the scan command does is request that the folder is scanned upon restart. And unfortunately, you get no message to explain that.

I believe this ought to be nailed down by those who've used this or by Logos and a line added to the Wiki about this if it is necessary.
In 3.0 one had to restart Logos after telling it to 'refresh resources' for that command to execute. It seems L4 operates with the scan command the same way.

I've added a line to the Wiki article on Logos Commands/Scan to indicate the need to close and reopen Logos for the command to execute. Should anyone correct the current understanding they can adjust that entry.

I have tried this several times and it still doesn't recognize any of my resources from Libronix/Logos 3. My current resources are in "C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\Resources" and in Libronix if I do the Refresh Resources command the next time I restart it I see the Discovering Resources message like always. In Logos 4 I type the comamnd scan "C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\Resources" with the double quotes around the path to the folder. I then shut down Logos 4 and restart it and look for the resources that should have been found and none of them are there. Does anybody know how to get this working?

Don't use quotes around the file path.

Having a similar problem, but regardless of quotes/no quotes, I can't get Logos 4 to scan either the DLS Resource folder on the hard drive or the inserted CD-ROM. Just got Grudem's Systematic Theology - used the Libronix DLS system to copy it to the hard drive and can see it in that tool, but Scan does not even seem to be producing a Library update when I restart Logos 4. Any other troubleshooting tips here?

When you type scan e:\ this is what you should see in the Command Bar.
Hit the Return key or click on the highlight under Tools to confirm the command. Then restart L4.
Here, e:\ could be your CD/DVD drive which it will search for resources.
EDIT: It's possible that the L4 licence has not been updated. Have you synchronised resources in L3 since you installed Grudem's? Do that and try the scan again. If that fails you will need to contact Support to update your licences.

Glad I found this thread... that is the good news. Bad news: Anyway to stop a scan? I foolishly entered "scan f:" which is a scan of a huge nearly full 500 GB back up drive. Needless to say the preparing library is taking a very long time... I expect it will still be going when someone answers this (days...) !

Phillip, end the Logos process running by using the Windows task manager under the Processes tab. Click on the Logos process program running then click on End Process. Then attempt to reopen Logos. I haven't ever had to stop this process, so Logos may just try to start it up again.

I expect Logos will try to start it up again on restart, but you could preempt that by disconnecting the backup drive before restarting Logos, then Logos will look for the F: drive, discover that it no longer exists, and (hopefully) consider its "scan" task complete and not try to do it again on future restarts.

Thanks for the reply Mark... I tried it. When I restart it does the scan again... I suspect the scan command is embedded in some start up file and won't be deleted until the scan completes. Speculation of course. But if someone knows where the start up file is .... maybe it could be edited?
