Thank you for layouts.
I sat down at my wife's laptop this morning, pulled up layouts, right clicked hers and updated it. Then I clicked on my 2 timothy study layout, picked up my study from where I had left off last night (in my study), got a few minutes of study while I enjoyed my morning coffee, finished up, updated my layout, then clicked on my wife's layout to put her L4 back where it was when I sat down. I am sitting at my desk at work now, with L4 running in one of my monitors, clicked on my Isaiah layout so that I can do some reading as I am waiting for other programs to run, and everything is right where I left off the other day.
Layouts have increased the usability of Logos in such a dramatic way that is it almost unbelievable to me. I used workspaces in L3 but for whatever reason, they never clicked to this degree.

Even so, I STILL am looking for a "Save Current Layout" that doesn't need me to remember which one I have open (hence risking I'll overwrite the wrong one)....

"Update and save current layout" is actually more what you want, isn't it?
There'd need to be a dialog screen for 'Save Current Layout' if one was starting from scratch, although I don't see why we couldn't have that.
We've moved forward in user friendliness with layouts, but I agree more could be done. I do get along with what we had in the original Beta, however. Just a change in approach.

As I was thinking of it, I'd like a command to just save it--if I have a named layout open. If I haven't named it, then only was I expecting a dialog to name it.
But why update? To my way of thinking, I'd already done all the updating I wanted to on the layout before trying to save it... [:S]

I understand why this might be useful, but can't help getting in a tease: If you can't remember which layout you currently have open, how are you going to remember its name for when you want to reopen it? ;-) Seriously, though: maybe we need Logos to tell us the name of the currently open Layout in the title bar, just before (or after) where it says "Logos Bible Software 4" -- the way just about every other Windows app does with its currently open document.

Seriously, though, here's how it happens. After so many years with SRAs allowing me to have a SINGLE layout for OT & NT work, I never needed to remember if I was in an NT layout (with NT resources like BDAG, etc. open) or an OT layout (with resources like HALOT, BDB open).
Now, when I move from this week's OT sermon to next week's NT sermon, it's all too easy to just type in the NT reference & start work--forgetting that I'm working in my NT layout. Then, when I run out of time to work on it--before getting to the EG work that'd REMIND me I was in the wrong layout, I want to save where I am... so I save my layout. I'm in the NT, so I should save it as NT layout--right? WRONG! That's how it happens.
Why do SRAs make a difference? I made serial relationships between Na27 & BHS, between LXX & NA27 Interlinear, & you get the idea. I never had to worry about separating the workspaces. Now, I do... and it's a recurring problem.
Name of currently open layout would help, but I still think we need a one-click button to "Update" or "Save" current named layout.
