A better use of Early Church Fathers

Hi Brothers and Sisters,

I would like to have a better use of the the Early Church Fathers in my bible study. I just have the Schaff's resource, not the IVP.

I am looking for the best way to know what the ECF have to say about a passage, a book of the bible or about a subject like prayer. But I don´t know the best way to do this in logos 4.

I already made a collection named Church Fathers and included in a custom bible study bible. But I am not sure if this is the best way.

I am going to start the studying of the book of Isaiah and I would like to discover what the Fathers said about it.

Any suggestions?

Wouldn't the Cited By tool accomplish this? You can set it up so that it doesn't search your entire library but rather just the collection you have created.

I think the best way to try to accomplish this is to create a collection with all these volumes in it. Customize a passage guide and include this collection to be searched.

You can directly search these volumes for a specific reference. Use the <bible=B xx:xx> search format where 'B xx:xx' is the Bible reference or just <reference>.

Some of the trouble with the ECF is that the Biblical references are often in footnotes not in the text, so they are not as easy to see. A search will locate them

Second, often as we do in a sermon or Bible study we may quote a verse but not expound on it. The ECF did this often. There is often little insight from those references.

I wil try to use collections, the cited by tool and the other tread was very insightful. Let's see what I can get.
