Tell me if I've got this correct or incorrect. I presently own Logos Silver. I buy Logos 7 Starter. This means I get the tad bit of whatever more with the Starter package but more importantly, I get the full set of working tools of Logos 7 without losing what I presently have. Soooooooo, have  I drifted completely off the rails thinking this or am I right? What's the downside? Please say on.

The Logos 7 Starter base package is made up of two parts:

    1. Logos 7 Starter Library
    2. Logos 7 Starter Feature Set

The Starter library will add additional books to what you already own. You'll pay only for new books, not for what you already own. Scroll down to the library section and set the filer to "New to you" to see the list.

The Starter feature set is also dynamically priced and will add some, but not all, new Logos 7 features. You can see a breakdown of what's included in our three feature set levels in the feature set comparison chart.

When you add the Starter base package to your cart, you'll see both parts (library + feature set) show up. They're intended to go together to provide you with the best experience (and a nice combo discount as well). If you want all the ownable features of Logos 7, you could add the Logos 7 Full Feature Set to your cart and remove the Logos 7 Starter Feature Set.

A Logos Now membership, which includes our largest feature set product (the Logos Cloud Feature Set), will get you access to a few additional features. You could get the Logos Now membership instead of or in addition to the Logos 7 Full Feature Set or the Logos 7 Starter Feature Set. Logos Now also provides some great savings that may make sense for you. You may want to check out the Logos 7 price and discount calculator I built to see your options and help you decide what's best. Note, though, that I didn't add support for mixing and matching libraries with feature sets as I mention above.

Incorrect, my good Bootjack.  You left the rails back a ways.

Starter will get you the L7 engine, which is of little obvious consequence.  Starter will also get you a limited set of features, not a full set of working tools (depending what you mean by that phrase).  Get Bronze anything and you get all the features, tools, bells, whistles and whirligigs which will function according to what is in your library.  There may be some complications, but in short there you have it.  Now go back to what Phil said above and you should be re-railed.

Thanks for the replies. Phil, you say if I want all (but you've got all in italics) the ownable features of Logos 7, I could get the FFS.

Gao, thank you for the attempt to set me back on the rails. You seem to be saying in order to get 100% of the working tools of Logos, I need a Bronze anything. Got to edit this again ... you mention there might be complications. That's scary! Clarify for me again for the first time. If I get the FFS, will I get 100% of the full working features of Logos 7. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Gao is wrong (although he's been misled by some unhelpful messages from Faithlife).

If you want all the ownable features of Logos 7,* then buy the FFS (or become a Logos Now member, of course). You don't need a Bronze anything to get this.

However, if you were to buy a base package (of Bronze and up) it would include the FFS. A Base Package is made up of a Library, plus a Feature Set, and Base Packages bronze or higher come with the FFS.

    * Technically, there are other ownable features that you can buy as add-ons, that don't come with the FFS. But these features aren't part of L7, and are sold separately.

Thank you Mark for the clearing that up. The "ownable featurese that one can buy as add-ons" ... has this to do with particular tools or is it Books etc etc?

I was thinking of the Greek/Hebrew Discourse features - a resource/feature combination not available in the FFS, but part of Logos Now, and also available for separate purchase.

And, for anyone reading who might be interested, it's quite possible to add a Starter Library and the FFS to your cart to take advantage of the discount that comes from having both a feature set and a library in your cart at the same time.

For me at least, with dynamic pricing, getting Bronze was cheaper than getting just FFS.  Every case may be different.  Of course getting Bronze isn't he only way to get FFS.

Getting the Bronze Library, or the Bronze Base Package?

Bronze Base Package.  Which includes FFS.  For some people just getting FFS may be cheaper.

In this case, the base package was cheaper not directly because of Dynamic Pricing, but because of the automatic discount offered for buying a Feature Set and a Library in the same transaction. In this case, the discount on the FFS for you was greater than the discounted cost of Bronze.

Thank you so much Mark for the additional clarification. For me, the FFS with full working tools would be the most sane way to go. As Gao says, every case may be (or is) different. I've got everything aboard here that I need at the moment, so if I were to go either way, it would be the least expensive (cheapskate) with 100% Logos tools.
