Hi folks,

I have created a custom Passage Guide and called it 'My Passage Guide' hoping to make it the default but it doesn't seem to be working. I want to launch a passage from the Go button on the homepage and it to open with my preferred custom Passage Guide. Any help much appreciated!

What version of Logos? Which OS?

It would have gained more attention if you had posted it in the Logos 7 forum; however, Let us see if I can shed some light on this.

    Starting from a blank screen

    Go to the Home Page

Type a passage in the Go field

Only your preferred Bible opens to the selected passage.

This is different in L7—and should be considered a bug.

    ---

L7 also introduced Home Page Layouts

Selecting "Passage" from this list opens the layout you seem to have been expecting, but you will then have to enter the desired passage.

I created a bug report in the L7 forum BUG: Home Page Go Field

Jack, thank you for your help, much appreciated.

I have had a play around with this, but the issue is that I've created a new Passage Guide template which I was hoping would run direct from the Go button. As far as I've read, if you call it 'My Passage Guide' it replaces the Logos default, but that hasn't happened.

    Should I re-post on Logos 7 forum?

    Many thanks,

    Dan

If I were you, I'd open up the reading normally from the "Go" box, and then close the passage guide, open your own passage guide in it's place and save the layout as the new default (by clicking on the arrow at the right side of the layouts you want to update and selecting the appropriate option - "replace with current layout" or something like that. I haven't got my mac with me to check it.

Whether you should need to go through that or if it's a bug, I have no idea.

That worked James - great stuff! Should have thought of that myself...

    Thanks very much.

    That's a relief! You're very welcome.

It might be that there's an even simpler fix that I'd not thought of, or that it should have kicked in automatically - I'm not sure if they deliberately changed the behaviour now that we can customise the default layouts.

    Hi Dan,

I tried to reproduce this and could not. Here's what I did:

    1. Tools | Make a New Guide Template
    2. Settings used were Bible Reference, I use the Passage Guide as a starting point.
    3. Deleted some sections
    4. Saved title as "My Passage Guide"

Then I closed and entered a new passage from the Home Page, everything loaded correctly.

Can you provide a screenshot of your Guides menu? Was anything accidentally misspelled or made lowercase?

I asked Jack for the same info in the other thread. I would help us track down repro steps, and please let me know if I'm missing any steps that you tried.

    Blessings,

    Philana
