Journals "no longer in library" sort of

I don't know if this is anything to do with the beta but I just discovered that Logos has somehow indexed the newer Logos journals (I guess) and these resources are no longer in my library somehow so when I search for something that is in e.g. JETS/BibSac I can sometimes get the result as the article title links to the Galaxie version but trying to access the contents all return the "no longer in library error." I have no idea why I would have had a temporary license to the Logos version of these journals but I guess this is the problem? Was there no automatic update to the newer Logos versions for those who had the Galaxie versions?

Tom, can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing? Also, can you try to filter your library for those resources and take a screenshot so we can see what is showing up?

I've discovered it's a little more complicated than I realised at first. The footnotes in the journals are not able to be accessed from the copy of the journal that I have as well. I've attached a screenshot. You'll see that the first two hits I show are from BibSac. If I click on the blue-coloured heading I can open the journal to that article but if I try to open the fn# which is highlighted orange because it contains my search term it opens the "This resource is no longer in your library" screen. If I try to read any of the fn in the journal they will not open either in hover mode or when I click on them. Nothing happens except the little hand icon. In the JETS example I can open the blue-coloured "Hermeneutics and Women in the Church" but not the search result directly below it. Again none of the fn are present when I try to see them.

In my library I only show one copy of each journal issue. e.g. BibSac 91-163.

Tom,

I wasn't able to reproduce this problem. It's possible there is a problem with your index. To help rule this out, can you try reindexing just a couple of the journals. You do this by typing Reindex Bibliotheca Sacra Volume 145 and then Reindex Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society Volume 20 in the Command Bar. After doing this try rerunning the search and see if you can see the footnotes and open the journals properly.

Let me know if this works and then we can go from there.

Thanks Philana, but there is no change after reindexing those two resources. I also restarted and tried again. The resources seem to be damaged as no early JETS volumes that I looked at has working fn. I think the difference is between JETS 28 and 29. Every issue I opened 28 and earlier has no working fn and 29 and after seem to be ok. I didn't check all of the BibSac issues but I couldn't find any that have working fn.

I believe the resources might be corrupted. You'll want to type Update Resources in the Command Bar. Then try the searches again.

Hi Tom,

Can you check to see if this resource is in your library?

Quit Logos
Right-click the Logos icon and select "Properties".
Click the "Open File Location" button.
Open the “Data” folder and the subfolder inside.
Open the "ResourceManager" folder.
Open the "Resources" folder.
Look for GS_BSAC_145.logos4

If the book is there:

From your current location navigate back a folder to the "ResourceManager" folder.
Delete the "ResourceManager.db" file.
Start Logos with logging enabled.

If the book is not there:

Follow the instructions on our Missing Resources support article with logging enabled.

I tried that but to no avail. The new file is smaller than the old one 3.88MB vs. 4.10MB. There is no question I have the resource as I can open and read it but I can't access the fn text and when I try to reach a fn from the index (which has indexed the fn the text) it brings up the "this resource is no longer in your library screen. I've attached a screen shot of BibSac 145. On the left is my journal which is fine except the fns don't work and on the right is what I get when I try to reach the text or fn via the search feature.

These were originally produced by Galaxie but now Logos is producing them. Could that be related to the problem? e.g. It indexed one version but now I have a license for the other? That still doesn't explain why I can't see the fn's though. I tried a BibSac issue on my Android tablet and it works fine there. I've attached the logs of what happens when I try to get to the fn text via the search feature and a successful opening of the article title from the search results. Unfortunately, yes, I think the next troubleshooting step is to run "rebuild library index" (overnight?) and see if that clears up the problem.

I rebuilt the index to no effect.

I also tried removing a journal file e.g. BibSac154 and Logos downloaded a new copy but the problem remains.

However I have a new piece of information for you. If I click on the blue highlighted title under the following resources were updated it also takes me to the "this resource is no longer in your library screen." I can still open it from the library list and read it except the footnote text is inaccessible. I can also get it to open from the command bar "bibliotheca sacra volume 154."

Can you do a file search on your hard drive to see if you have a file called GS_BSAC_145.lbxlls this will help us narrow down the problem.

I did a full search of C: drive with no such file found. All my BSac volumes are *.logos4. I also have this fn problem with the early JETS issues as mentioned above and I see that those files are all *.lbxlls - both the problematic earlier ones and the later issues that work.

I hope this helps narrow down the problem.

It seems that something got corrupted along the way. The best solution is to do a complete reinstall. This will install the most updated version of the resources.

Are you saying I should delete all my resources and uninstall Logos? I've already forced it to download new copies of the affected resources. I'll just have to leave it as is if that's the case because I am overseas and my resource folder is 39GB.
