Unnamed Collections

I don’t find any answer to this in my Logos 5 and 6 physical manuals, or by searching support, or at https://wiki.logos.com/collections , or in the Help Manual (F1), or in the Free Training Videos and Articles , or on the Logos Wiki .

When I go to Tools|Collections|Open, it always starts a new Unnamed Collection which I then have to delete.

Is there any way to open my collections list without creating a new Unnamed Collection?

When the Collections tool is open to a desired collection, the tab can be dragged to Favorites OR the Command line to create a shortcut.

Opening the shortcut causes the Collection tool to open to the named collection and not create "Unnamed"

But this really is a design flaw. Clicking on the collections menu should open up a list of collections, not create a new collection by default, In my opinion. It's just not the best way to open up that feature.

This has been brought up before and I agree this is a design flaw.

Unfortunately the interface designers haven't seen it as such. And because there are workarounds i don't know if that will change any time soon.

Eli, Bradely and co please prove me wrong and say this is on your active radar to be fixed in Logos 7.

Are you getting a new number each time? Also are there any rules or resources filtered in those unnamed collections?

The consistent behavior is that it opens the collections called Unnamed Collection. And if you delete that collection, it will be recreated when you open the collection tool. But there will not be in rules in it. It is an empty collection.

Could you PLEASE have this open up to a list of collections (or anything) and not a blank, false collection?? Or at least prohibit the software from creating this false collection ???

That Unnamed Collection does not actually exist. It is not saved when you close the Collections tool. If you open up one of your tools that allows you to specify a collection (library panel, or search panel) you will not see the Unnamed Collection anywhere in the list.

That is correct, but I thought that was only because there were no rules associated with the collection. That's why I tend to call it a "false collection." It does show up in the OPEN dialogue box in the create collection panel. As such, at best, it is confusing. I can live with it...you wont hear me griping about it going forward...there just seems like there should be a much better default action to occur when the Collection feature is executed.

I was about to start a new thread called "PET PEEVE: Tools > Collections > Creates Unnamed Collection." Glad I found this first!

When opening the collections tool I am almost always wanting to view the current list of collections rather than create a new one. This way just seems confusing.

But others have said it! I'm just adding my voice.
