MS Word Smart Tags

After upgrading to LN/L7 from 6, my smart tag for MS Word 2010 went away meaning I can no longer right-click on a referene and paste it in. I tried the usual powershell script which gives an error. Now I can't even find the Logos directory on my computer.

How do I get the smart tags working again?

Hello Larry:

It probably just got turned off. In Word. Try FIle, Options, Add-ins. At the bottom there's a section "Manage:" with a drop-down list. Choose Actions from that list and click Go. Make sure Logos is checked and then click OK.

EDIT: ...I think I understand now that your problem might be more complicated. Maybe you have 64-bit Office? I'll leave these instructions in case someone else needs them.

I am running Office 365 on Windows 7. Smart Tags worked until Office 365. I have attempted the steps in this thread along with what Wiki suggested. I get error messages when I attempt to run .\RegisterSmartTags.ps1 -Office64Bit - I get the following error message:

The term '.\RegisterSmartTags.ps1 -Office64Bit' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check spelling

I have gone into Word, File, Options, Add-ins, Logos Bible Software is liste in Active Application Add-ins, at the bottom I go to Manage select COM Add-ins, select Go. Nothing happens.

Help would be appreciated.

Have you rebooted your computer?

I ran into problems with the script as well, but the next time I closed the programs and rebooted my computer I found that it was working as expected. The additional actions are once again available in Word. A pleasant surprise indeed. I do have Windows 10, so that may make a difference.

Not sure what worked for me, but a reboot is worth a try.

Grateful to the Logos blog entry (dated September 14) which has just alerted me of the ability to simply type Ctrl+Alt+B in Windows to copy Bible verses from Logos. Another option for those who may be having problems with Smart Tags.

Hmm, there must be more to it than that. Smart Tags work for me in Word 2016/Windows 10/Verbum, but Ctrl-Alt-B does nothing.

[EDIT] - Got it to work, I didn't realize Verbum needs to be running (which makes total sense)

PS - I did find my smart tags was broken again I used it last about 2 weeks go. Why is this so hard to fix?

When I hit control alternate B I get the options to paste into Word, Publisher and Powerpoint but not One Note.

Any suggestions.

Only one step when using 'Copy Bible Verses' for Word/Powerpoint etc but a couple of extra steps when using it for OneNote.

Hopefully the same one click copy/paste functionality for OneNote will be added later.

This is the process I used:

1. Have OneNote open

2. ctrl+alt+B and copy Bible Verses Panel opens (Logos/Verbum must be open)

3. Press copy button for desired verse/s

4. Paste into OneNote

EDIT: The above steps work in Evernote too :-)

That's because PowerShell can't find RegisterSmartTags.ps1. The simplest way is to put the file in your Users folder (C:\Users\username), open Powershell and then paste (CTRL+V) or type the command .\RegisterSmartTags.ps1 -Office64Bit.
