Issue with the Text Comparisson Tool

I am running Android  6.0.1. Bible Version 5.5.5. I can not change the Top Bibles that the app uses for comparison. The Greek Bible (WH1 Westcort) does not allow for the user to compare verses in the OT. It also is used as the base text and does not compare the verses accurately. This has been going on for some time ( I am not sure how long, but it seems to me at least a couple of months). Today I finally had time to address the issue. We  also get limited Choices as to what Bibles we can use. This has been changed recently. I used to be able to control which Bibles I could compare. This makes this tool almost useless in the app. please advise and any help would be very helpful and appreciated. God Bless

Great. Thank you very much for you assistance and your prompt response. God Bless

  • I am new to Logos and have an LG android 5.1 phone. My text comparison tool gives me the ESV, God's Word, Tischendorf Greek, Podle Puvodniho, and the NLT for comparitive work. My preferred Bible is the ESV. I was told by android customer support that there is no way to change Bibles on a mobile. Will there be a way to change them? Thank you in advance for your answer.

I am unaware of any plans to change Text Comparison Bibles from within the Mobile apps. Logos 7 Desktop customers can change the priority of Bibles and also create Collections of different Bibles, and that information will sync to Text Comparison on mobile.

I have a similar issue with my Samsung Galaxy S-4.  When I select "Top Bibles", I get Westcott, ASV, AV, and LSG.  I have never prioritized any of these in my library.

(The first five Bibles that are actually prioritized in my library are the NASB, LEB, ESV, NKJV, NET.)

    Thank you

  • Willie,

In your recent post concerning the Logos text comparison tool, I need a little clarification from your end. When you say your "top Bible's" in your Logos mobile library, are you referring to the first five Bibles listed when you click on the Library or your ability to, from your Samsung android, to prioritize five Bibles for comparison. We both seem to have random Bibles for comparison that have popped up. However, I was wondering  if I missed properly setting up my "top Bibles" in my Logos mobile Library. Thanks in advance for your help!

"Top Bibles" means the Bibles with the highest priority as set in the Logos Desktop app's Library. The priority is synced down to the mobile apps and cannot be changed from within the mobile apps. There is already a case for random Bibles appearing in Text Comparison in the mobile apps.

    Hi Mike,

I'm sorry for the delay in responding.  Kevin's explanation was much better than anything I could have sent you.  [:)]  Welcome to the forums!

    Michael,

We saw your review on Google Play and wanted to correct a couple of things.

"As a stand alone device, your phone or tablet, let's say in word study mode, will not display the original language lemma or morphology no matter how much you tap and hold a word according to the features guide."

This is incorrect. The Lexham English Bible, Greek New Testament: SBL Edition, and others show the original language lemma and morphology  information. Online access is, however, required for this to work.

"The text comparison tool is of little value since you cannot on your mobile choose the Bibles you would like to compare. The app randomly chooses Bibles for you without a sync."

This has previously been addressed above in this thread. It is of benefit to everyone to first ask questions here to learn about the app before posting reviews based on faulty information.

  • Kevin,  The first of your three links only worked, directing me to the Lexham English Bible. I wish to see lemmas and morphology for the ESV, NKJV, and NASB texts. How can I make this happen with Logos for mobile?  Mike

    Hi Mike,

I'm not sure why the links in the second two screencasts didn't work. Were you signed in to your account, and online?

The free Bible app includes 71 bundled online resources for those with an account, but lemma and morphology information is not freely available for the ESV, NKJV and NASB Bibles. Reverse Interlinear Bibles can be purchased for each of those translations (among many others) that will show that information but we can't give everything away for free in the mobile apps since we have to pay license fees to publishers for nearly every book.

The Lexham English Bible does include lemma and morphology data for free since we publish it ourselves. For more serious scholars we offer many tens of thousands of titles but at a cost.
