I use my Desktop computer ,and the other day I use my Labtop ,I want to start excatly where I was was reading when I use one of them ,is there any way to arrange this?
Yes....
Either make a layout and save it with your book just the way you like it; and then you can come back to it later and click the layout to open up that book in the precise place you left it (and everything else on your desktop also)
OR
you can just leave your book open to that place and when you launch logos next...it will remember this and open to it. (I've not tested whether this works across different machines or not but it should)
Save your layout before you leave one, choose that layout when you start working on the other. Works like a charm, I have a layout created for each of the studies I am currently doing (e.g. 2 Timothy, Mark and Isaiah), I update the layout each time I am done and I am able to start exactly where I left off regardless of whether I am on my desktop or laptop.
Have you folks tried this with beta 7? It always comes up at the last layout on that computer, it does not refresh to the layout of the other computer if that one was saved most recently. Is this a bug in beta 7?
I will look at it when I get home this evening Dominick, but in reality it doesn't matter if it does, since the first think I do is choose the named layout that I want to work on, and since they gave us the update layout right click, I just make sure the last thing I do is to update the layout before I close. To be quite honest (which means by logical inference, my normal mode is to lie [:O] ) I will love it when we can get L4 to open to a default layout, because I would have it open to a layout with everything closed which will speed start up.
you can just leave your book open to that place and when you launch logos next...it will remember this and open to it.
This works if you bypass the Homepage, right? Otherwise, you would need to use your first method.
This is the behavior by design. The last-used layout only works per machine. If you check your layout snapshots it'll only have history for that computer. Only saved layouts are synced. So if you want to continue work on a computer from another one you need to save a layout and sync before you exit the program. I've requested a tool to sync layout and close so that when you fire up Logos on another computer it sees the layout on the servers and switches to it automatically, but no response, or traction among other users for that matter.
That makes sense, thanks Kevin.
Gary,
Yes...you must uncheck "show homepage at startup" so L4 will go right to a layout.
If you want to launch to a homepage...then you must save a specific layout and load it after start up.
Only saved layouts are synced.
I stand corrected and thank you...that's good to know.
