Content organization in Logos Deluxe Map Set

When looking at the table of contents for this resource, I can't see any organizational structure to help a person locate maps of interest. I.e. The maps don't seem to be listed either alphabetically or chronologically--just a random hodgepodge of map titles/entries. Am I missing something obvious?

One has to rely on Media search because the titles aren't all that meaningful!

Thank you, Dave. I sure wish Faithlife would improve the integration of Logos atlas/map resources with other Logos resources--at the very least with Bible resources. Perhaps my memory is faulty, but it seems to me it was easier to find things in the maps in the old Libronix version of the program. And as I recall, they were editable as well. Sigh... [:(]

You can right click on a place in a bible (or other), select the Place name and choose an appropriate search (Atlas, Factbook, bible dictionary).

The tagging wasn't as good/reliable, though.

Have you seen my personal book that I created? It is under the files catagory.
It is called Logos Deluxe Maps with Scripture.

Dave, thank you for your help. Now it's possible some of my frustration with places and maps is a result of sometimes choosing "selection" from the right hand side of the menu and not looking for a "place" entry. In that situation, Atlas and Factbook don't show up and Bible dictionaries often provide no maps.Dave Hooton said:Rick Ausdahl said:I sure wish Faithlife would improve the integration of Logos atlas/map resources with other Logos resources--at the very least with Bible resources.
You can right click on a place in a bible (or other), select the Place name and choose an appropriate search (Atlas, Factbook, bible dictionary).
But even when selecting the "place" entry if there is one, I find the results can be a bit frustrating. Part of that frustration is simply that while the Factbook usually (always?) shows up, the Atlas often does not. And when the Factbook is used, when hovering over the icons in the "Media" section, you can't tell which resources the media entries are from, so if you prefer one resource over another, you can't make that choice from the media icons.
I've also had media icons show up in the Factbook that did not have an entry for the location that had been selected. This has happened on multiple occasions, but just as an example, the most recent time was right-clicking on "Eden" in Genesis 2:8 and selecting Factbook. One of the media entry results in Factbook is a map icon titled "The Biblical World". Selecting that icon opens the Biblical Places Maps resource to The Biblical World map. But Eden doesn't show up on the map, and attempting a search on "Eden" in the Find/Search box for the map, results in the search box turning red and producing no result on the map.
I've also had other occasions when the map that came up from a media selection, would zoom out, then the map would start to move as it zoomed in, as if moving to the position of the requested location, but then, just stop without actually showing the location. Attempts to use the Find/Search box to zero in the location would end in the same result, and I couldn't find the location by zooming in farther and moving around the map manually.
I'll keep trying to work with the "place" entry after right-clicking on a location, but the process and the results just seem very unpredictable. And then there's the fact that the "Atlas" requires an internet connection, so that tool/resource isn't even available when one is without an internet connection. And finally (sorry for being such a winer) a major frustration is having these locations (especially in the Bible) tagged only for Faithlife's own map resources.
OK... I'm done. I have a lot to be thankful for (including Logos and folks on the forum who offer their help), so I'll say "Thank You" to Faithlife for the software AND for the forums where we're allowed to wine and to ask for (and get) help. [:)]

John, thank you for pointing this out. I don't have any personal books, so have no clue what the process is for creating one and/or incorporating one someone else has created, but I'll take a look at your thread/topic in the Files forum and see if I can figure out how to make use of the book. I'll post here after I've had a chance to give it a go.John Brumett said:Have you seen my personal book that I created? It is under the files catagory.

Thanks again!

Well... I've only been able to play with it for a few minutes and may not have any more time to do so for a few days, but I downloaded the updated version of the docx file, then attempted to follow all the instructions for making the Personal Book, the Maps collection, and the personal/custom guide, and much to my surprise, I think it's all working. I'll report back when I've had a chance to spend a little more time with it, but if it is working as it should, I can only say the instructions must have been pretty well done considering I had never played with this stuff before.
Thanks again, John! (And James!)

I have been able to play with it a little more and do think it's working as it should. I do have a couple of questions though after reading one of your posts in the thread you created for your Logos Deluxe Map Set personal book in the "Files" forum. I'll post the questions in that thread just to keep as much information as possible about the PB in that thread.
