Word and Footnotes
I just updated Logos with the most recent update and then also I am using Microsoft Word version 15.28, and when I copy from a commentary and paste into Word, it's no longer auto-footnoting it any more. It's juts putting the citation directly after the quote in the body of my document.
Is there a setting I changed on accident? Is anyone else experiencing this?

I was able to reproduce using the same resource. After right clicking in Word, if I use the paste button furthest to the right, I get your results. If I use either of the other two buttons, the citations work correctly.
How does this translate into Word for Mac Settings? I've never had this problem before.

Are there any Logos/FL people that might be able to look into this?
I have tried everything mentioned on this thread, and I'm still nowhere

Jon,
I'm sorry your having trouble getting this to work. I'm looking into the situation and will follow up once I have more info.

Jon,
It looks like Microsoft Word for Mac version 15.28 is not the current public build, I'm not able to reproduce this on 15.27. Do you know if this was working properly before you updated from 15.27?
Yes, it was working before 15.28.
Thanks for confirming, I'll get a case written up for the team to look at.
I am having the same issue as Jon..any word on a fix?

Why O Why are the simplest most obvious things challenging to do in Logos. It used to work??!!!!
In this case, you're dealing with two different applications, developed by two different companies, and a change in one program affected the other.
Things break at times, which are outside of FL's control, and FL fixes issues in upcoming releases.
While this particular issue may be a nuisance for you at present, it doesn't hurt to be thankful for word processors and bible study software that we didn't have a couple of decades ago.
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!
As far as I know, the only people having problems are those who subscribe to the Office Insider program, which is basically the Office 365 Beta program. So, chances are, the issue is a Microsoft one, not one with Logos.
Also, someone mentioned doing a "Paste Special" and pasting as RTF, and that does work, placing the footnotes at the bottom. It's an extra step, however, it takes less time to Paste something in then copy and paste into a manually created footnote (going step by step to create it).
I am perfectly okay with a few extra steps, especially knowing that it was my choice in joining the Office Insider program that probably caused this to not work.

I'm not part of the insider program and still happens to me

Jon,
With the recent update pushed by Microsoft Office normal office user now have the issue. We do have a case open for this problem. It was a change in Word.

Good to know! Excited for the update, for the convenience [:)]. Have been using the workaround in the meantime. Thanks! [Y]

A word processor that does work well both with this feature and when working with Hebrew text is Mellel.
UPDATE: Please ignore the suggestion of Mellel since it does not export to .docx format.

But can Melel save in docx format?

Jack,
Thanks for asking, I thought Mellel did export to .docx and it looks like it does not export to .docx at this time. I would not have suggested the app if I had realized it couldn't. I thought it had added that feature recently, but it looks like its still being requested.
I am having the same issue mentioned by Jon Bradley as well. I have tried pasting using "keep source formatting," and "match formatting." but it no longer copies with the citation in the footnotes. It just copies like it used to when I would copy it as text if I didn't want to keep the footnote. Now I can't get it to make the footnote with the citation unless I manually copy the citation into a footnote. Please fix this.
The only way I was able to get it to work like it used to was to paste using RTF, but as Jon said that is a a couple extra steps and less convenient since the old way used to work just fine.
Susan this maybe because you're not on office subscription?

Thanks for confirming this was an issue with a Word update. Hope the wonderful folks at Logos/Faithlife will be able to create a fix so that the two programs work well together again. (By the way I have also noticed that when the reference is copied into Word from Logos that the volume number is not included when appropriate.)
This is fixed in the new MS Word update 16.9 Office 365 Subscription
