Highlighting

For years it seems, I simply do a 2-finger tap on a text and then choose "highlight." Maybe I'm losing my mind, but I can't do that now. I drag the pointer over the text, and do a 2-finger tap (MacBook), and get what you see in the attached picture. Neither choosing File,Edit,View, or any other menu item in the top left allows me to highlight.
Can someone please help? I'm getting incredibly frustrated with Logos. I've renewed my commitment to Logos since 7 came out, but I'm running into the same problems that motivated me to quit altogether with L6.
So many functions since L7 still don't seem to be functioning. (powerpoint slides, copy & paste from clippings to sermons, the search function, highlighting). My time zone is opposite Bellingham, so it's not feasible to call unless it is midnight to 8/9am.

I don't understand because this isn't how highlighting is applied (it is close to this on the mobile devices)
Try opening the Highlighting Tool from the Tools Menu then - once you have selected the text - click on one of the highlights.
Does this work - or am I missing your point?

A few hints to help with the frustration:
- If you post in the Logos 7 forum rather than the General Faithlife forum you will likely get more timely and more precise answers.
- Logos support is for software problems and failure ... they aren't trained to handle training issues - for that they will usually refer you to the forums and to their online training materials
- to include a screen shot, which is very useful, use the paperclip icon - copy & paste will not work with the forum software
- while there is a steep learning curve for many Logos features, asking on the forums for help or referrals to videos make it a quite managable project. The Help document has also been beefed up so that it frequently gives you the information you need.
I'll let Graham continue on working with you on highlighting. I highlight with a palette open but many users use keyboard shortcuts.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Thanks to both of you for taking the time.
Graham, come to think of it, I think I've done most of my highlighting on the iPad. I see now how to do it.
MJ- I hope my use of the paperclip came across- my screenshot was attached that way. Also- I've watched a number of training videos; in fact, I've compiled a list of them so I can check them off, and found there are several dozen, if not close to a hundred! I've watched probably 25. My problem in this situation is that I've been competent at highlighting for years with no problem. Was it only on the iPad, or did they change it?
For both of you, do you think it would be easier to have highlight on L7 for Mac as it is on iPad? A simple double (or right click)? There appears to be enough room in the drop down list when you double click.

Yes - it came across fine

The basic way highlighting works on the desktop hasn't changed for a long time - I think since Logos 4 was introduced (there have been some tweaks)

I think the way highlighting works on the iPad is easier than on the desktop so it would be good if some of those techniques came across. I have seen some discussions about ideas about this but don't know if / when they will appear in the product.
MJ referred to the use of shortcut keys - this can make highlighting on the desktop easier. Details of how to do this are at https://wiki.logos.com/Highlighting#Shortcut_keys
